Topic: What are SEO Spams

Posted under General

I've seen two users get banned for being "SEO spambots", and I'm curious what are they.

I also get this feeling that this user is one as well, given their comments are somewhat similar to one of the aformentioned banned users, and are limited to forum posts. Though I don't want to fully assume they are.

He definitely is, and should be banned.
Do you want to report him?
I already reported someone like him today, and he got nuked very quickly.

I reported them some time ago, but the last time I did the mods declined it because the comments were more than month a month already. I feel like they're still spambots, considering they don't make a second reply to the same thread(s).

I'm pretty sure warning them is pointless, and leaving their links up actively encourages them.

The admins don't seem interested in removing spam links older than a month.
So all we can do is catch these links early.
Which is not always easy, because spammers like to make harmless comments and then edit the links in later.

All links on the site are marked as nofollow, so they don't count towards any search rankings anyways. Usually they are removed when they are found. Sometimes it's a lot of effort and so they are left orphaned.

Well, nofollow or not, the last thing we want are gullible users having their information leaked from those shady sites.
