If an artist doesn't post an English description, but has posted a non-English description...
i assume is ok to copy that description to description field ... followed by a translation.

Include post descriptions as you have found them, in its entirety.
Try not to create your own descriptions/translations because it may be misinterpreted.

I've done that before. I'd only recommend doing it if you're confident in the translation though. I'd also recommend making it clear that the English is a translation and not part of the original description by putting "translation:" before it or something. You can add the translated_description tag to the post afterwards.
