Topic: Ever Realize How Abstract Video Game Taunting Is, Dood?

Like if you didn't know that meaning behind it beforehand it wouldn't
mean anything ya know? Like a language you don't know, It would mean
as much to you as a peep say~ waving their hands about, m8.

Now heads up, I do NOT condone taunting in any way, I mean, Come on, Dood.
We play video games to have fun, not to be made fun of, ya know? ╹‿╹)

But it's pretty weird to think about, Ya know?
Not saying biz can't be direct since voice chat's a thing but,
rapidly crouching or using supers after the peeps are already down.
Either takes a LOT of reading into or someone to tell you what it
means for the taunt to really mean anything, ya know, Dood.

And It doesn't end there, If players are restricted from doing those
things in-game, They'll just come up with new ways to 'taunt' within
the guidelines of the game. Taking normal functions and twisting them
into a secret code saying "Screw You." Like with Guilty Gear Strive,
Playing Sol badguy one of his best moves has coined the phrase
GG Shake My Hand Spamming that move post-battle in a way that
can only be described as Smug, Dood.

It's really weird the gymnastics peeps go through just to make fun of each
other, right? Inventing new and new inner lingo unique to each game just for
the sole purpose of making fun of other players.
It's just so wacky, Dood!

I think taunting can be fun, as long as it’s done in good jest. Especially when you’re playing with friends, I think it’s really funny to see them doing a dance, teabaging, or trash talking after killing you. Of course there’s a bit of a fine line between a good ribbing and being a bad sport/bullying.

Oh Totally! While I'm not a peep for taunting in general, When both parties
are in on the fact that it's done without spite, It's just another way of
chatting like survivors do in DBD! But just like DBD peeps do taunt just
to get under another person's skin, m8.

Don't get me wrong, ╹‿╹)
You make a fantastic point that not all taunting is done by mean peeps and
that they could have other meaning which is rad to think about but there are
peeps who would do those things purely to make fun of the other player which
sucks and get's weird to think about since the way their taunting only makes
sense to them and anyone they tell it too. And it's even weirder than we just
accept that rapidly crouching means this or spamming a certain move means that-

Just seems like Assigning meaning to the meaningless in such a harmful way, Dood

Didn't you make a topic on this before, to which I responded that it's use is deliberately pissing the other player(s) off to make them play worse?

I made a Thread similar, Dood~!
Thanks for keep track, Btw! ◠‿╹)~★

Here, I'm not really going into why I personally don't like Taunting but
if anyone else realized how abstract the methods of taunting are, Like
rapidly crouching or whatever. It wouldn't make sense if you weren't in
the know and just find that really weird if anyone else made that connection
before, ya know?

as a professional gamer scientist, I can assure you that a little taunting is essential for a gamer to grow up big and strong.

after all, if your captive-bred gamers are unable to withstand a little trolling, how do you expect them to fare in the wild?

Would love to know if you have a degree in PC or Console Lolz =‿=)~★

But in all seriousness and taunting aside,
Isn't it weird how we collectively all agree the one gaming
motion means this and another means that? It's strange, isn't it?

It just occurred to me that I might have derailed your thread slightly, sry about that
I think it’s funny all of the creative ways people came up with to taunt eachother. It’s just the fact that people love to gloat. Humans are very good at communicating, so we come up with clever ways to do it!

Nah, It's cooleo, Dooder, It's not like I didn't see it coming =‿=)~★

It's definitely Something interesting to think about, Dood!
Really makes me wonder how it all came about and other neat questions
like why are we so quick to believe that one motion means something negative
and for that matter, why aren't there any universal positive gaming complements
out there. There's GG but even that's in a grey area, Just seems wacky that
there are so many ways to insult but not many to compliment.
