Topic: How Many E621 Tabs You Have Open/Highest Tab Count Ever?

Posted under General

There are many images that I wish to add to my Galleries/Sets.
So what I do is I open each image I like to get a better view.
However, I don't do one image at a time. I open many images in bulk
and then add them like it's a conveyer belt, a constant stream of art I am CONSUMING!

Problem is: I tend to open character tags, open all the ones I like in bulk, but then if a specific image peaks my fancy, I look at the art tag too...oooopen every single image I like from THEM TOO
And then my nightmare on E621 begins. Opening Tag after Tag, adding more to the line than getting rid of; all for the sake of adding and engraving what I personally feel are the best to my standards.

TL;DR: 1,015 E621 Tabs open on my laptop

How about yours?

Not many anymore. How much RAM do you have?

lol idek, I figure once I can barely see the dang logo anymore I'll just
go beserk until my laptop forces itself to shut itself down.

It's a constant add/subtraction. Except I add more than I subtract.

(not a computers guy, idk where I'd find my RAM)

Yes. The larger number is the maximum amount of RAM in the computer, the smaller number is the amount currently being used.

about 3.4GB out of 4.0GB
Google Chrome is using like 1,400MB rn

is that bad?

I just added an entire 'nother section full of Angel, from Lilo & Stitch XD

Yes! If you listen closely you can hear the screams of your computer asking for help.

I think the most tabs I've ever opened is 20-30, once in a blue moon. Normally it's less than 10. As I'm on mobile, I can't open that crazy amount of tabs.

Well, you're probably reloading a lot of those tabs if you only have 4 GB. No way is each of those e621 tabs only using 1-2 MB.

It will all get better once I add the images
to my Sets and delete the tab as I've been doing.
Everything will be OK

I'm sure I've probably reached 200+ (300+?) in the past for similar reasons. I haven't reached anything super large recently though, and I've certainly never reached 1000.

I use Firefox in part because it's difficult to navigate a large number of tabs on Chrome. On Firefox, the tabs don't display smaller than a certain size, but on Chrome, I believe the tabs just get smaller and smaller as you add more... Your tabs must be microscopic...

I think the most I've ever had is 8 or 10? Mostly for tagging purposes; open a row of posts, do the thing, close the tabs, open the next row of posts, lather, rinse, repeat.

one day maybe.
Am I really one of the few individuals who have over 1k tabs open just for e621?
I can't be...

Everytime I close the ENTIRE Window filled with Tabs, cause my OCD is going from casual to obsessive
I feel a part of me die inside, for not being able to add my ideal images of a whole character into my SETS. It's a

MISSION FAILED!

I think...it's time to exit the window again...
I'll stop with Minnie Mouse...

Mmh. Are you saying that there is an problem here?

The fact that you are using RE621 might be exacerbating this problem.
It does use a tiny bit of RAM to run. And if you check for subscription updates, and all 1000+ tabs have to synchronize... yeah, that's a problem.

I'm gonna have to think of a solution for this.

wow! didn't think I would present a problem for you to solve!
I guess the question of: What if a user has over 1k tabs of e621 open using your thing...
though that was never in my mind. I'm just doing what I always do, open hella tabs and more tabs for those tabs!

Getting more RAM probably wouldn't be the worst idea assuming your computer supports it. While getting by on 4GB can be done it can chug pretty hard after even very general use. Fortunately RAM isn't ungodly expensive anymore, though depending on what kind your computer requires it might be easier or harder to find compliant parts. A stick of 8GB 2400 DDR4 is only about $35, give or take, or 2x8GB for about $60. DDR3 is even cheaper.

Also, if your computer is forcing itself to shut down it's worth noting the cause, as something like a sudden black screen can be due to something like high temperature emergency shutdowns.

Oh yeah, my laptop screams in pain constantly.
I tell it to shut up and keep opening more tabs
and then it kills itself. it's alright now.

I have a 1Terabite USB if I stick that in will all my troubles go away?
I bought it in an auction just for fun without really knowing. It's GForce or something.
I also have this black brick thing that has like 2TB or something in it. Not really sure how it works.
But I think it works the same way as the 1TB USB...

You need more RAM not permanent storage, so I guess not.

You are not appreciated for your work.
People like me would be lost without you.
You fix my shit
So I can abuse my shit.

oh so Storage isn't memory...I'm really not smart with this Computer stuff, I feel like a failed millenial. I should know this tech stuff
But I have a BOOMER mind to tech. I just USE it OK. If it works it works, if it dies I'll buy a new one.
It must DIE to fuel my ambitions. KEEP OPENING THOSE TABS!!!

How would I add more RAM???

I typically have at least one e6 tab open, usually a tagging project one or otherwise something I'm currently following, such as chapter 2 of The Suicider Rat. I could have more or less open, depending on how bad or good the day is...

How do I do that? Do I just Google "How to Download More RAM?"

Just in case you were serious about that, you can't. RAM comes in hardware form, which is to say you need a physical RAM card. Most motherboards (The giant computer chip on the side of your computer's inside) typically have four RAM slots, and as long as you get the same DDR and brand, you can install more into those slots no problem. Different brands can sometimes work, but try to keep it to a minimum of brand differences. They can get into arguments over which brand is better and reduce their efficiency--two brands is typically fine but three or four and you might have problems.

DDR should come in 3 or 4. They do not work together. Your ram cards should have a sticker on them that says what their byte strength and DDR are, so if you have empty slots, you can get more RAM of the same DDR to fill up those slots, and once they're filled you can replace your low bytes with higher bytes. 4GB chips are fairly common nowadays, but you can get them in higher byte ranges if you're willing to splurge. Even if the cost-worthy cards wind up being the wrong DDR, if you can get more RAM worth of them to completely replace your current sticks, you can just do that. Take out the wrong DDR put in the new ones for more RAM won't hurt anything.

You're overflowing my brain.

DDR? Bytes? RAM Cards? Hardware? Dude I JUST use a laptop, I have no PC, and I play on PS5.
Everything you said to help me requires me to look up a wiki and decipher what you just said.
I like to joke, but I was serious. IM TECH CHALLENGED!

I USE TECH, I DON'T KNOW TECH!

Hm, a quick google search on my end reveals that upgrading Laptops is very different. Whereas tower motherboards are built to accept just about any RAM card, laptops are not. ...Though that result did come via a company trying to advertise their own products, so it might not be so accurate. At the very least, it seems accurate that laptops only have two slots for it.

Speak with the tech support if you don't want to spend hours looking things up. There definitely is a lot to it, and it's easy to make a goof when trying to upgrade without an expert's assistance.

It's good to have 48 gb of RAM. Very useful for the massive number of tabs I have open. Especially while playing games. Currently using 23 gb.

Just checked and I had 1642 tabs open. Not sure how many were e621. Maybe a couple hundred.

I deleted about 16 of those tabs afterwards. The rest were all very important, of course.

OP is ahead of me in e621 tabs specifically, but I have a feeling I'd win a contest of total tabs.

I'm starting from scratch again. There are times the number gets too great and I just have to exit the window and start anew.
I'm just looking at Nu Mous for now.

Somewhere between 200-300. I'm not one of the people that has hundreds upon hundreds of tabs sitting unused all the time, unless I'm currently using a tab or have been recently and intend on going back to it eventually, I close them. But sometimes when I want scrape a bunch of images of a particular character, franchise, or whatever and weed out the ones I don't want, I'll go through the tag and open each one I want to save, open them to full size, and then when I'm done I use a browser addon to save all images in the open tabs with 2-3 clicks. Then I close them.
