Topic: Cancel culture and blacklisting

Removing those features would be supporting cancel culture, not combating it.
Cancel culture occurs because people have no quiet way of expressing their disappointment or upset, and so resort to the next best thing: The quietest means, which happens to be loud and noticeable. Being able to blacklist something is perfectly silent, and being able to downvote something is still really quiet, so they're far better than the alternatives of complaining.

... How the fuck is ignoring the existence of something "cancel culture"? You're not actively trying to shut the artist down, shame them, belittle them, make their life a living hell, dox them, and do all the other dumb bullshit Twitter does, you're simply not looking at their content. Is it now cancel culture if I don't play Halo because I don't like microtransactions?

What have i got myself into?

If users blacklist an artist, it's like they are putting a blindfold on. So they presumably won't bitch and whine on that artist's posts.

OP is probably pulling a fast one

Lance is right though the blacklist basically promotes the opposite. It's more annoying for everyone involved when people are mad that something on the internet exists that offends them and they are continually exposed to it.

This is the series of tubes called the Internet, and our finessed discussion culture. ๐Ÿ˜…

But in the point I agree with the majority here. If blacklisting artist tags is disabled, it will lead to disgruntlement and people down voting and voting for deletion for the artists' works, which is the point where this would be cancel culture. Now it's just swell, as people are allowed to share with each other the things they consensually want to and others can refuse their consent with the blacklist without needing to deny the posts from the whole forum.
