Topic: Opinions on PFP idea

Posted under General

Can I get some input on if this concept would be okay'd before I go through the effort of designing in the center, or should I go with a different idea? https://imgur.com/a/B0TXnmq

I'm trying to design an image to use as a profile pic here, and part of me wants it be be clear that I post my own art to here (and can be found on twitter but that doesn't matter as much), and it'd also give immediate knowledge that I'm OP on my images.
But I don't wanna keep annoying mods and getting things deleted (tried using my twitter pfp, not furry at all so not surprised, but it was worth a shot) because I don't know all the ins and outs, or what's considered taboo (because I think some places heavily discourage self promo pfp?).

I don't know, maybe I'm focusing way too hard on professionalism on a furry imageboard, haha

Something of worth noting though is that advertisements are prohibited as per uploading guidelines, but this covers submissions such as auctions, YCHs, and such. Not really sure about a banner for one's own gallery though.
Another thing that is not explicitly stated is that cropping images specifically to be used as a profile picture is frowned upon here (would fall under Low quality submissions ), so if I were to take a section of the image you linked and posted it here, it would be deleted (as there is an existing, complete version already). However, headshot_portraits are allowed if there isn't an already existing, complete version of it.

I'm not sure how well your idea will be received, but I feel that it would fall into a grey zone here.
Depending on how the mods would see it, it can be considered as a standalone image in itself or a collection of cropped images.

Ahhh, I didn't quite know those things! That's good to know! Granted, the two sketches aren't on the site, but I feel I'm flying a little too close to the sun with that excuse. If I wanted to use any pre-existing images, it'd have to be in a more detailed, complicated and original way.
Thinking about it, I might be able to just slap some animal ears on my character and call it a day but that feels boring and uninspired, ha.

It does give me a direction because it sounds like the avatar is something to be kept a bit more "personal" and not super professional. It's hard to put but I think I get it.

Thank you!

I'd suggest focusing on just one picture exclusive to this purpose and presenting it here as if a commissioner had uploaded it instead of yourself. A commissioner wouldn't have an "Illogical Jumble" banner on their commissioned piece or a bunch of apparently unrelated portraits stitched together, just a single example of your best art that they would be proud to show off. For other examples of your work, viewers can just click your artist tag.

So just a 'best foot forward' kind of thing, or a single good composition with a 'welcome' theme (An idea I got from Wolfgang's response). My problem so far with the former has been trying to pick what's my best foot, haha. Or making one that I feel comfortable actively displaying.

I... Genuinely forgot about artist tags, somehow.
