Topic: Female vs Hermaphrodite

Posted under General

So, I got a general question for you guys. Lets say you meet a girl but she has a dick along with everything else. So if she looks like a chick, she has tits like a chick, she has a pussy like a chick, but she has a dick like a dude does that still make her a female?

Er, no? For tagging purposes, that's a straightforward herm.

I think he's talking about a real life situation.
Considering that there's no documentation of a fully functional human hermaphrodite it's a largely moot point.
The real answer would depend on the person, if she identifies as female, then she's female, if she identifies as male, she's male etc.
That's what there's such a thing as transgender people, your gender is more about who you are than what equipment you have.

More so tagging, like here. But Halite does make a good point, personally if the herm looks more female, I would use female pronouns first and vise versa for more male-looking herms.

Ah, tagging is even easier.
We don't tag gender, we use those tags to easily identify the genital configurations visible in the image.

So, penis + vagina = herm tag.

Tagging herms/dickgirls as females can and will get you in a lot of trouble. Users have gotten negative records and bans for not tagging correctly. Here on e621, no matter your personal opinion on genders, we tag the gender we see in the image. If it has a bunch of female attributes and a dick and balls, we tag it dickgirl. Herm is used when a character has a penis, testicles and a visible vagina. If there is no vagina, it gets the dickgirl tag.

Small addition to this:

If it looks fully male (no breasts for one) and is a herm (pussy and penis), we use maleherm. Note that maleherm implies herm, so it isn't a different gender, but instead more of a subtype.

To AbominableToaster: I'd recommend checking out howto:tag genders. It's a useful guide for this kind of thing and it has a straightforward visual layout that a lot of people find pretty helpful to reference.

Or just a penis and visible vagina :3

Or if just the balls and vagina are visible.

Really if there's both male and female genitals visible it's a herm tag.

And no, breasts aren't genitals, some people think they count and those people are dumb.

Do you guys think there's enough evidence of this being a herm? I don't think the pussy is detailed enough to be a herm, but I'll leave it be.

Breasts really only matter for dickgirl...and possibly maleherm, although I'm less sure now. Oh, and cuntboy probably.

To me it looks like the "pussy" goes all the way up to the anus, which makes me think that it is supposed to be a crease or vein or something.

However, furrypickle retagged it dickgirl -> herm so I'm less sure now. I would probably just leave it as is if it were me.

It looks like labia majora. And it is in contrast to the same area between the anus and balls of the male they're penetrating which is drawn completely smooth. There's also no reason for the artist to draw labial mounds on one male and draw it smooth and flat on the other male...unless it's a pussy and that makes it a herm.

To be more specific: the way it's been drawn looks like two slightly rounded mounds on either side of a slight crease. The other character's same anatomy is drawn as one smoothly rounded area, no signs of creases, veins, wrinkles, or other stylistic explanations for the extra lines. If that's just how the artist draws a male perineum, then both would be drawn in the same style. And labia can look more subtle if it's not being spread or gaping, especially whenever the labia minora are short enough to not stick out. Which matches how this one was drawn. I've seen labia drawn similarly on images which were clearly female, as well as pussies that looked similarly understated in real life. So I think there's enough to say it's a pussy and therefore a herm. But yeah, it's not the most obviously-a-pussy image I have ever seen. It could have been a little more distinct.

It seems as if that's how the artist draws perineums sometimes (example 1 and example 2) and they don't seem particularly subtle about their pussies. I had to go pretty deep, but I did manage to find an example of them doing herm, so I know it isn't unheard of.

Not that I'm advocating changing it to dickgirl or anything, I just can't personally come to a conclusion on what the artist intended (not that that matters for tagging). I also notice that the detail on the balls and penis on the top one is a lot darker in general, which only further confuses things.

In my opinion it just looks like a perineal raphe, don't see that as herm in any way. That said, I think pickles opinion outweighs ours.

A hermaphrodite is not a female. Given my heteroromantic tendencies (As in, it's been hammered in that I need to marry a female, not just anybody regardless of gender), if I fell in love with them, I would fall in love with them as though they were a female, yes, and have a primary interest in their female side, but they still have a dick, and that's not gonna change.

It's pretty common. There are quite a few images in which males can look like herms at first glance, I think this one post #299369
was the first pic I wasn't really sure of but I think it's just down to the shading.
