Topic: Will things I post be discoverable online generally? (help)

Posted under General

So uh, recently I've drawn an art that I think would fit here on e621, and I want to post it under the alias I use for everything online, but my friends and parents irl know the alias and I don't want them finding my nsfw art through like regular search engines, would my post be discoverable through things like google image search if I tagged it with this alias or is it safe? should I come up with a new alias for nsfw art? help, please, and thank you!

Google images does return results from e621 sporadically, but they are generally much less visible than indexed pages from personal gallery sites and social media. I guess there is no reason not to have a separate alias for NSFW artwork if it gives you peace of mind, though.

This should not be your sole condition for "should I post NSFW art in a place where my friends and relatives could see it and know it's me?".

How has basic internet hygeine become so forgotten with the passing of just one generation?

Always change your alias to something else if you do not want to be associated with said content with people you know in real life. That includes potential employers in the future if you are looking to go into the professional field, it would be hard to explain to them why you have a bunch of furry smut associated with your current alias.

That said, yes. Google does index posts from e621 and your artist tag will be visible on the search results, regardless of whether it is rated safe or explicit.

This right here should've been reason enough to use a different alias, regardless of website or activity.

Always maintain a completely separate alias between online you and real you...especially if it's about NSFW things. Heck, it's also a good idea to maintain a separate alias between sfw you and nsfw you as well.

For all intents and purposes, Google is mostly useless for porn, now. Especially rule 34 of obscure characters. People use the Boorus/Pixiv/... and yes, Bing/Yandex, to find categories of artists and then follow links to their sources. So to be visible, tag your stuff. To be visible and not come up on search for your username, have a different one for porn/art as mentioned above.
