Topic: Changing a character tag (ownership)

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I upload regularly for several comics. In one comic, there is a character who is currently tagged as magnus_(shiro-neko). Shiro-neko is the username of the person who owns the comics, so I used that as a tag specifier. However, the character itself is owned by a different person (who goes by the username of "pasc"). They recently reached out to me asking if the tag could be changed to magnus_(pasc) to reflect that it is their character.

Is this something that can be done? Would I have to make a new tag called magnus_(pasc), and then edit the current 36 posts/pages he is tagged in to reflect the new tag? Would this be better handled as an alias, and if so would it adjust how the character tag appeared on existing posts?

Appreciate any and all help with regards of how to best proceed!

Don't worry, already fixed. Next time something similar happens, you can write a Bulk Update Request to update the tag in question. Example:

mass update magnus_(shiro-neko) -> magnus_(pasc)

This will automatically edit all existing posts without creating an alias. That way, if shiro-neko one day decides to create a character named "Magnus", the tag can still be used to refer to it.

In this case, since it's already a linked suffix, an alias probably would work until the artist creates their own such character. Since they were already using a character by that name, they should make it more unique themselves.

Thank you for the quick response and fix. I wasn't sure what the mass update option was, but I am really glad it exists and was explained.

Thanks again! Will be sure to let pasc know of the good news!
