Topic: Confused about posting desertmotels / scpkid's work

Posted under General

So one of my uploads was removed because desertmotels is on the DNP list, which I'm completely fine with but upon looking at the artist's tag I found out that desertmotels is scpkid under a different name, and scpkid is not on the DNP list. What's more confusing, is that two other pieces which I've uploaded under the scpkid tag has not been removed- despite them being uploaded earlier than the other one that was removed and being DNP.

So I would like to know whether or not those uploads are allowed to be there, I wouldn't of uploaded them in the first place if they're not.

The artist desertmotels seems to be scpkid's NSFW alias.

Normally both artist tags would be aliased together so that nothing slips past the DNP radar.
However, depending on the artist's wishes, they might want them separated so that their SFW works don't get mixed together with their NSFW works.

How did you come across the two posts you have uploaded under scpkid? The source links are either dead or empty.

I can understand that, but if that's the case in this scenario then my other two posts would of been removed too as they're definitely NSFW

When tumblr announced they were removing NSFW content from their site ages ago, I decided to rip all the tumblrs I was following for archival purposes. I'm uploading everything now in my downtime so that others can enjoy it- sadly nearly everything I'm uploading has no source now as it's long gone from the original sites, and it's extremely difficult to get even dead links from a site.

Did you rip the two posts from https://scpkid.tumblr.com/?
If that's the case, you wouldn't have broken any avoid posting rules then since desertmotels is the one that is DNP.

If you want to be extra cautious, you can send the artist a message asking if they are okay with you reposting their older work from Tumblr under the scpkid alias.
However, the artist may in response choose to takedown the posts or even request for their current scpkid alias to be DNP, so it would be a risk anyways to be posting the artist's work without their permission in the first place.

it wasn't deleted for DNP reasons it was because of a takedown, Takedowns under this artist tag implicate they're managing what they want allowed posted to the site as they've included old aliases as well, which says to me that they would know about the scpkid stuff as well. Considering if it is the same person though it could be worth bringing it up to the head admin for them to investigate.

All three uploads were taken from the "neonvore" tumblr, a reblogged URL can be found here (NSFW): https://www.tumbex.com/a-furry-blog.tumblr/post/156354880278 . I assume that alias is even older than scpkid, so no clue where that puts things in terms of allowed and not allowed.

Right but the DNP status means that all work, no matter how old or what alias, should not be posted. A conditional DNP with the "uploads that were under scpkid alias is allowed" addendum would make more sense if that's what the artist wants.

Not always, some cdnp artists have avoid posting implicate due to permissions granted or self archiving. But it's possibly something that would require implication updates or clarification so DMing NotMeNotYou about it could be a good move.

There is also cases where artists have a deliberate content split with what they work on, judging by the artist FA bio for desertmotels, they tend to remove content randomly and that's not exactly something the artist can manually do on e6. So it's a reasonable guess they opted to have content under the tag dnped from the site

In that case, since it is a third-party source, it would be really tough to determine when and under which alias was that artwork first posted to.
How did you come to know that the two posts were from scpkid, rather than desertmotels?

Fair enough, I shall do that.

When I was searching for the source of ID: 3167362, the first upload, the only source I could find was from Kheina, which tagged them as scpkid. The second upload (ID: 3174787) I couldn't find a source but the character and style looked exactly the same as scpkid so I tagged that as such.

In this case, it would have been more appropriate to tag unknown_artist since you don't have definitive proof or a reliable source to indicate who the artist is, other than comparing artstyles.
Adding tex_(scpkid) is fine though since characters in the posts are nearly identical to each other.

Anyways, for the remaining two posts, it is highly likely that scpkid/desertmotels is the artist, but you (or the admins) would need to clarify their current DNP status with them, whether it be absolute or conditional.
