Topic: DeviantArt Allowing NSFW art under Paywall

Do they compress the stuff more or less than Twitter?

I cannot answer you that since I have barely posted anything there for the past 2 years.

I do think stuff is smaller though when I save stuff from DA

Meh, it's nothing that's going to threaten any dedicated NSFW gallery sites - the list of forbidden content bans subject matter as commonplace as rape and incest, as well as the usual ban on "underage" fictional characters, a clause which I'm pretty certain is intended to ban vore, and a suspiciously open-ended mention of "certain other fringe sexual fetish creations".

So, they'll only allow vanilla, alongside those infamous feet and inflation pics for now, yes?

In other words, the policies of what's allowed are exactly the same as they were ten years ago, the main difference being the monetization requirement.

Unless I'm misremembering, DeviantArt has never allowed explicit adult content to be posted on the site, or at least, hasn't for most of the site's existence, this change appears to allow sexually explicit content for the first time.
However, they confusingly use "mature content" and "18+ creations" when they're referring to newly allowed explicit content, "mature content" is already used to refer to nude/erotic art, which requires the user to be 18+ to access.
Based on their policies though, "mature content" that they've allowed previously isn't going behind a paywall - nude and erotic art will still be accessible without paying.

I thought they had allowed NSFW content but under some sort of filter? Maybe I'm misremembering but I've been on the site for 13 years so it's been a while.

Considering a large portion of my following is on DeviantArt, I'm sure there's some benefit to this? -But then again, you can find the same work for free on any other website I upload to.

DeviantArt is playing it way too safe for a website already well-known for being crowded with degeneracy, if you ask me lol. This update basically changes nothing.

They've always allowed "artistic/erotic" full-frontal nudity, but you weren't allowed to post what they deemed "pornographic", i.e. erections, spreading or any form of sex act.

I think the joke was that those rules were notoriously poorly enforced.
