If I were to guess, confusion over where to draw the line between them.
I would say anthros are actually humanoids. They have lots of human traits. But on e621 anthros and humanoids are differentiated from each other. And I don't think that new people read the wiki of every tag we have here. That's my guess.
If you see somebody tagging wrongly, check the wikis to verify it works as you thought, and if it does, report them.

Precisely. In the dictionary, "anthropomorphic" and "humanoid" both mean basically the same thing. While the vast majority of furries know what 'anthro' means on this site, I'd imagine that there are many new users who get confused (especially those who speak English as a second language). The upload form has big buttons to add the Anthro and Humanoid tags, but it doesn't have a direct link to anywhere that explains how we use the tags and where we draw the line.

That's a thing that should be added. And a script, with a list of tag combos, that should cancel each other out, that puts out a warning pop up. E.g. for solo male/male
Apparently "humanoids" basically have a human face as opposed to anthro, that's good to know.
