Just curious, how much room does e621's 535,137 images take up?

I did some maths (Disclaimer: I'm terrible at maths), and it seems that it only takes up about 348gb of space. Seems smaller than i expected what with 10+tb storage available for desktops.

Comon people, do your part, we need to hit 1,000,000 pics!

Of course, with every new post, the burden on the servers from searches increases...

...
The obvious solution is to reduce the number of posts. By the time we hit 100,000, things should be much faster ;)

Close! We're currently using about 354GB of space for posts.

In order to reach 1 million posts, we need more images to post. But takedowns, bad quality stuff getting deleted and dnp stuff slows it down a bit. FA got to 1 mil because they accept everything, which is not always a good thing.

I'm sitting on 17k of only the very best ;p The top 3%!

But yeah, the the quality of e621 is amazing. nothing else like it on the web in any genre(furry/non, porn/sfw) that i've seen.

The big burden with the size of the site is the search function, not the disk space.

Actually, isn't the weighted size range 5-7? (Weighted being ignoring the far out there sizes... I don't remember what the term for that was)
