Topic: Request: Promote Hyper_Beam to Contributor Rank

Posted under General

The user Hyper_Beam has consistently been posting their art here for quite a while now, all of it being quality content tagged very well. I think they are more than deserving of the Contributor rank by now. I have no reason to suspect they would abuse the powers that come with the status. I'll bet my account on it.

I know this sounds really weird. But I suggest going to their profile and clicking "report user" to put in a positive comment; it's not obvious, but the tool can actually be used for both negative and positive reports (forum #142620).

That's really good to know, i thought reporting always had a bad connotation.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll let the committee know what you said. But in future, it's better to use the method Parasprite suggested to make a positive Report to let us know these types of things. It doesn't really belong as a forum thread.

It's also worth mentioning that, even though we read positive reports and discuss them, there's a lot of factors that get weighed. So there's not any guaranteed outcome. A lot of times a positive report will make us aware of a user, but we'll have reasons to give it more time/see more from them before giving them an upgrade because upgrades are taken very seriously these days. However, even when no public action is taken, positive reports are still factored into future discussions about that user. So it always matters.

I had no idea positive reports were a thing. I guess it's kind of redundant now that I have already made this forum post, but I'll keep that in mind in the future.

Oh, I always wondered if that was something that could be used for positive reports, but assumed it would upset the moderators. Might wanna leave a sticky somewhere pointing out the proper uses for the report feature. I mean, we've got the "Blacklist: What It Is and Why Should You Use It" thread, so why not one for reports? It would help to even just know what and how to report when it comes to negative ones, anyways.
