Betting onto predominantly 20-something biological males.

+1 on that demographic

That's not shocking, but I thought a furry community would be more... diverse.
I'd say the furry community is very diverse. Especially if it comes to gender diversity. But have in mind the e621 forum doesn't represent the furry community. That's just a very small part of it.

Fair enough.
18 biological male here.

It depends where you are. The fandom, at this point, is large enough that it has cultural scenes within it.
And well, the thing about "more diverse" is that its meaning is relative. For example, let's assume that, for the sake of argument, that furries are 5% transgender. That might not seem like a lot, but when you consider that transgender people are less than 1% of the general public, it is absolutely still more diverse than other spaces.

I'm a poor metric (anyone else remember running wiffle cards through a computer to get a few hours off?), but my guess would be 22-38, male, bi/gay/pan is the predominant demographic. I know of, like, three females who use the site, mostly older. Honestly, I think there might be more trans and nonbinary folks than bio female based on just what I have seen. Asides from a few very, very vocal (and likely banned for refusal to blacklist) users, "straight" appears to be a minority here.
Anyway, that's my guess.

That was a great example explained perfectly, but in my experience at least, I would still put trans-people at least 12.5% in the community. I think when there's a level of free-spirited open-mindedness expected in a community, more different perspectives are going to happen.

Wiffle cards? Good Lord, I thought I was definitely going to be the oldest. (I'm only "used floppy disks a lot, and even then only the small rigid kind" old) But thank you, that was enlightening. :3

Makes me wonder, if cis heteros are the minority at this point in this fandom?

I'd be _very_ surprised if the majority of users weren't straight and male. I mean, female is tagged on more posts than any other gender, and male/female is tagged on nearly as many posts as every other gender paring combined (m/m,f/f,i/f,i/m,i/i) (446k m/f vs. 466k rest), so that's at least what people are most interested in posting here. if we look at order:favcount the current top faved post is m/m, yes, but 40 out of the top 64 are m/f, (18 are m/m, 3 are i/i, 1 is i/f). so either a majority are straight or they're bi and skew really hard into the prefer female side.

Reading you and @VotP, for me is evident that the simple question of knowing the "demographics" of this site, say, in terms of sex, orientation and age, it is somehow complicated and we could only make inferences from our subjective limited personal experience, or from some indirect messures. The most direct and accurate approach, would be to make a poll that would be responded by a large number of users (say, more than 1000) and from there extrapolate.
However, for me is clear that people would not want to participate very much right now in such an excercise (only one user, @Yetanothertemp, have responded rather straightforward in this thread).
But your indirect approach of analysis, I think gives a very good hint of the underlying Reality.

There are bisexual people too, who like male/female just fine alongside enjoying male/male, female/female, etc. I feel we could also add in posts that feature individual males/females/intersex prominently but aren't being sexual with someone else. I also know some gay men that will like/share straight art as long as the female isn't too prominent or obvious (or because the male is just that hot that it overpowers the fact that there's a female, too).
