I think you should be able to make personal pools for your favorites, that can only be accessed by going to one's profile directly. So if you have a bunch of fav pics that are similar, you could group them together for easier viewing/browsing.

We have that already, it's called "Favorites", I think the whole personal pools thing was shot down before as well, by tony no less.

Yeah, I knew it was shot down by someone some time ago, and when did you get admin back you crazy rat goat dragon thing?

I believe your subscriptions could serve as a sort of makeshift personal pool, if they weren't so wonky.
Also, isn't making a pool and setting it to private instead of public still available?

Public or private only affects who can edit said pool. Public obviously means everyone can edit the pool, private means only the creator and I think mods/admins can edit it.

I asked an Admin to delete these pools that are taking up space...

...a lot of good that did. 100% of them are still there.
