Topic: Targeted downvoting?

Posted under Off Topic

I don't know if there is some sort of controversy with this artist or what, but everything by reiyoyote seems to be getting downvoted to around -4.

I can't think of a reason why 4+ people would downvote post #3677020 and post #3696171, these are not bad images.

They should still just blacklist the artist tag rather than downvote everything.

At least they haven't taken it to levels of true brigading where they ask their 200 Facebook followers to do it. There's also people using sock puppets to Sybil up a storm.

It's still obnoxious. XD

I wonder why there was an exception for this one, if other nazi stuff is ok. (I am glad it is gone, though)

If it broke the "national, racial, or ethnical hatred" rule then it makes sense for the post to get deleted. I'm late to the party so I didn't get to see the image, but e6 does draw a line between images designed to parody, and images designed to harass; I've seen other posts get deleted for containing legitimate derogatory imagery (keep in mind what "you" consider derogatory and what e6 considers can differ), so I suspect that this image broke the aforementioned rule...

In any case, to get back on topic: if you ever think a user or post is getting targeted with downvotes, you can use reports to ask for an admin to check. However, in my experiences "targeted downvoting" means a person making multiple accounts to downvote another user multiple times, a user mass-downvoting another user's comments (say, downvoting 100 random comments of someone else's for no good reason), a user downvoting several posts of a nature instead of blacklisting, or a person making multiple accounts to downvote a post (or posts) multiple times instead of blacklisting. A controversial image getting downvoted isn't necessarily against the rules, otherwise we wouldn't have downvoting as an option.

It was just a bust portrait of a guy in a black top wear and with a paw badge instead of the swastika. he wasn't even wearing a typical uniform, IIRC. Actually very soft compared to other stuff.

guess valkyria's no longer allowed then, hm.

what a turn of events

It's probably more to do with Foxler being a notorious individual.

To answer OP's question, yes, multiple people have been mass-downvoting all of that artist's uploads.
That had now been addressed, and the votes were reverted.

It's important to note that disciplining rule-violating actions against a given user does not imply endorsement of or agreement with said user, because I just know someone's going to think otherwise...
