Buy yourself some long underwear and thermal survival blankets, the metallic ones. Should be able to find the former at any clothing store, and the other at camping and surplus stores. You'll thank yourself later when your power goes out for a few days solid.

Noted. I'm buried under three huge comforters now, but those thermal blankets sound amazing.

Also, windproof gloves are useless below -5c, if you're not using proper subzero gloves or heated gloves, you're better off just tucking your hands in your sleeves than having them exposed with shitty gloves. Frostbite hurts. Any covering for your face is better than no covering, even making yourself a ninja mask like a child out of a shirt will help stop the wind from blowing up your nose and will help catch your respiration to warm the lower half of your face. Pull hair forward before packing down with your headwear to provide extra forehead insulation.

If you do lose feeling in your fingertips and they start do go hard, submerge in hot water (38-40c) and hold there as soon as possible until all feeling returns. This will hurt like a motherfucker but will prevent you from developing blisters and sloughing skin due to frostbite. Eye protection is a must, sunglasses can save you both from windchill to the eyes and the glare off the snow, red works best and slit-style snowshades are also a good option as they also provide more robust insulation. If male, stuff a sock or two down there for safety. Wearing sweatpants under canvas or denim trousers can help provide a cushion between you and wind, although purpose-made thermal garments are always preferable.
