Topic: I'm new here and I'm wondering if posting a comic is okay

Posted under General

So I'm new and I want to post some art and my comics. They're mostly furry. Most of them are SFW. Is it okay to just casually post a comic series and art here?

Oh and by the way I have a SHIT TON of comics. How would I like....group them?

Got a link to them? Only thing I can think would be a problem is if they don't get approved because of 'quality'. Since you're a new user, I'll explain the normal process.
You posted a comic on XYZ site and you want to mirror it here (optional, but good idea).
So you click 'upload' button, and it asks you this whole bunch of stuff. Now, there are tools to do this easier if a lot of pages, but we'll stick to single-at-a-time. BTW: Some browsers seem to cache what you entered in a form, before. Nice if uploading related images! Or you can copy and paste them all, and delete/add the differences. It doesn't really matter which box you enter tags in, because it's just there to remind you of categories like explicit tags, point-of-view tags, etc. Think of it as a sort of checklist.
You then provide a link to the file (from other tab on site you are copying from), or just the file on your own computer. You also provide a link to wherever you posted it (highly recommended), so people know where you also post. You can add as many sources as you want.
Since you're the original artist and own all the comic pages, you don't normally have to even worry about DNP/Avoid Posting list.

I'll let someone else explain where to get the tools to do this faster, but it's kind of fast, anyways, if you copy the majority of the tags, and then edit in the few differences as you go.
Until you get the permission, you'll be limited to 10 pages at a time.

so long as the comic follows regular uploading guidlines GO AHEAD!

just be sure to put multi-page comics into a pool (and if you don't know how to do that, i can create them for you)

https://e621.net/help/pools Or show them how. ;)
https://e621.net/pools/new For convenience, start a new tab here. You add the post numbers at the bottom, after uploading them.

What do you mean?

XD Oh right, you mean the entire thing. It's more of a reference than a book. i.e. Use it as you have specific questions. It covers stuff like how to format text in comments, for example.

:edit: I'm an idiot. You mean the comic. I noticed you already are starting the pool. Cool!

Yeah, right now my comic has 361 pages and I probably won't be able to upload them all at once since there's an upload limit. I'm just wondering if there's an easy way to go about it

Is that site the full-sized images? I could upload 11-20, and you could upload 1-10, or we could find someone with that permission? I think it also gets insta-reset if you get them approved. <--- This last one seems the sensible/official way? The first few might even get approved before you finish the 10th, depending on if an approver is online.

You'll also find a lot of tagging vigilantes that will fill in past the minimal tags. ;)

They are full sized images yes. I did just recently created a pool for the first chapter

Hey ^^
This might be a big project for your first uploads, but please make sure to add enough general tags (at least 10, preferably more :3). Try to find a good balance between quality and quantity. Don't rush it, and please tag each page individually. Copy/pasting is a commonly made mistake by new uploaders. If it is going to be NSFW, have blacklistable themes in mind. I can have a look at them, and approve them ^^

Yeah, the explicit tags are really bad to miss because of blacklists. I'm going to go through them as I see them, though. Also, I agree it's often better for stuff like character tags that the artists list them. It's annoying to disambiguate characters from (since hidden) Fur Affinity accounts. draco is a mess right now. There's literally dozens of people using that name for something, and not all of them are character names!

always great to see artist come on this site to mirror their work, not saying this place is fort knox or anything but it still has better ui/ux/cx/hud/whatever than most others i've been on

Oh yeah this will definitely take a while to upload all 361 pages hahaha

Another trick is you're doing like I'm doing and clicking "next" "edit" *adds tags* "submit" *repeats* is that it keeps a list of the most recently-added tags you used (stored on the browser itself, apparently? Not really looked into the code very closely.).

https://e621.net/pools/33182 Convenient link to the pool. I think I got most of the tags on those first 3. Once more are done, I can get started on them, too.

It's actually good to space out the pages instead of dumping it all at once. Let's people read through the first few pages instead of just skipping to the "good stuff" (if any).
Don't worry about your upload limit though, which every 10 approved posts you get a +1 on your limit. It may not seem much, but it accumulates.

If your artwork is good and is consistently high quality, you can even apply for unrestricted uploads privilege (i.e., no upload limit) from an admin.
