Topic: Wrongful Deletion

Posted under General

A post of mine "3911499" was wrongfully deleted as the mod thought it was of a human when it was actually a dragon and this can be seen on the post which takes place before it "3911498" as you can see the wings of it in the distance, clearly non human. You can even see that on the post of the 2nd image on Twitter that it links to the first one which as I've said is not a human. I told the mod of this wrongful deletion but he insists that it's a human and want to know your thoughts.

e621 works on a Tag What You See principle. If a character looks human in a given post, it's treated as human, even if it's meant to be something else like a dragon, alien, elf, etc, and even if other images show it as something else. The only time human-only posts are allowed is when it's part of a sequence (like a comic) to avoid breaking the sequence.

In this particular case, it does look human (the face texture looks close enough to human skin, and there's nothing out of place with the eye or hair to make it appear non-human), but that image is part of a two-post sequence where the other part is definitely not human, so I'd think the second post could stay despite being considered human.

Normally, the "no human_only" rule is ignored if the image is part of a larger set of images as a whole. The whole set itself must also be at the very least "furry" related.
E.g., post #3933241post #3933242post #3933243

In my opinion, the second image should have been kept since it follows the first "furry" image.
On the other hand, if it were posted as a solitary image by itself, then it would be deleted.

Yeah if only the original post was released as comic instead of two separate images. So should I try posting the image again after maybe clearing this up to the one who rejected the post? I am currently waiting that mod's response.

Normally if an image is part of a set, and the related images are fine to keep, then it will also be allowed here to keep the set together. So for comics or transformation sequences, one image might seem like it could be human only, but it is kept for the rest of the set to function as intended.

Sometimes this can get overlooked, if it's not obvious that two images are part of the same scene. Especially if one was approved first, so that the other looks like it is by itself unless you doublecheck for any parent/child linked posts. I suspect that's what happened here. I'll approve it, since it's part of the same scene as the other image which was approved.

In the future, the best way to handle something like this is to message a member of the staff to look at it. If it is a mistake, then they can correct it. And if it's not a mistake, then they can explain why it happened that way.

But definitely don't re-upload a deleted image. That's against the rules and that makes things into a bigger mess. It is always better to ask it to be reviewed and then we can restore it if need be.

Thanks, and I decided to wait until the issue was resolved since I figured that reposting a deleted image was bad when it was initially denied.
