Hello! So, I'm not a furry. I don't want a fursuit, & I don't have a fursona. Yet, I find myself fapping to furry porn often. I'm atracted to humans, but I can get my rocks off to some fur. Personally, I'm going to choc that up to how great the artwork looks. Damn, You guys know your shit! I will never judge anyone for liking these things, BTW. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Is this common? Do Non-furries make accounts on furry porn sites Because of the high-quality artwork? Thanks! Just a bit curious, You know?

I think sometimes, the labels get too much emphasis. Do you like the art? Great! Is some of it hot? Great! That's all you need to know.

And I think that's actually fairly common. There are artists who draw 900 pieces of furry art, but never consider themselves a furry. Some people enjoy fursuits but never call themselves a furry. Other people call themselves a furry, but have zero interest in fursuits. What I'm saying is, there isn't really so much a rulebook or a set way to be. It's more like a very big umbrella. Or another way to look at it, is like it's all part of a very big party with a lot of things in it. So you can enjoy the parts you like, and you can ignore the parts you don't like, and be decently civil to everyone else around you.

I personally tend to view it less as "this is furry stuff, and it's for furries" and more as "this is imaginative art, and some of it is porn, and it's for any adult who doesn't need everything to be 1000% realistic all of the time". So if a little bit of imaginative art sounds like fun, then it's for you. And that's all there is to it, in my opinion.

This reminds me of one argument I saw on Steam where one person tried to define furry. They said it had multiple definitions, one of which simply involves being interested in anthropomorphic animals and the other is to be active in the furry community, although he made this seems more difficult to read, but that is what he ultimately meant I think.

I thought the developers of that game were furries, but apparently not since they said otherwise.

The word furry is made so complicated nowadays Isometimes wished it didn't become this global phenomenon and remained the "funny animals fandom" like some youtuber put it on their video.

You can partake in furry stuff without calling yourself a furry, just as you can partake in emo stuff without calling yourself an emo..Furry is a label you can call yourself

If an outsider ever asks me what a furry is, I just point them to the Halley Labs website and say "those things on the album covers, that's what furries are all about". A bit silly but it's the most accurate introduction I can give

EXACTLY like me fr fr

I literally made my account name with this emphasis. I'm not a furry, i don't want or have a fursona or a fursuit, i will never, EVER go to a convention, i'm even as easily cringed out from irl furries as any other people. But look at this site! The art is AMAZING. The quality of this site is beyond high, if you search well enough that is.

Though, if you're really picky like me with porn, your blacklist will surely be ginormous, mine is arround 550 tags, more than 7000 characters long. BUT, i don't have to see any "bad" porn so it's definitely worth the time spent on improving it.

Looking at real porn, it's easy to blur the line between fantasy and reality. This is significantly so if you have little experience with sex and people. This ends up creating false expectations that you're unaware of. Those ruin relationships and harms people, including yourself. Looking at furry porn, the line between fantasy and reality is trivial to see and I suspect any false expectations crossing from the fantasies into reality take a lot longer to form. I'd bet it's healthier to use furry porn over commercial porn. True amateur porn used to reflect reality, but its slowly been including more and more acting to increase likes. It's a lot harder to find content with people who aren't putting on some type of performance for the camera. It might be strange fapping to furry content, but it'll distort your mind less than fapping to mainstream porn.

There's a minor risk if you use it too often that you may end up not being able to get off any other way, but that's true with any type of sexual thing. The cure for that is variety and periodic breaks.

I used to say I wasn't a furry, that I'm "only here for the porn," but eventually I'd been here so long and I was in so deep that I stopped believing that motto. I then transitioned my stance to "furry by association" lmao, which was quite a begrudgingly extracted admission, and looking back on that it definitely reads like denial.

You do not need a fursuit.
You do not need to go to furry conventions.
You do not need to own any furry products.
You do not need to roleplay.
You do not need to commission or create any art.
You do not need a fursona.
And you can still consider yourself a "furry".
Yeah, I'm a furry. Too much evidence to maintain the contrary.

It doesn't have to matter to anyone else. If you like it, you like it. I don't really leak my contagiOwOn on my normie accounts.

And, yeah, the art's good. There's been a lot of iteration to find what works and what doesn't. It was much harder to say that in the dark ages when I was starting out.

Understandable. As a furry i kind like some stuff here and a good meme makes me happy for a bit. That is so much to see on e6. Have a nice a day. and as a furry i never had a fursuit just cosplay as my fav pokémon and digmon.

to be fair, there's a lot of furry artwork that's hardly drawn with an emphasis on full-body fur. like, from my experience, there's just as much "furry" porn as there is "furry porn but the body is smooth and hairless with a animal-esque pattern" if you get what I mean.

plus most of it is just really, really good.

In the end, who cares if you identify as a furry or not? You like what you like, and that's all there is to it.

im curious as to what your full blacklist is

Just as there are multiple stages of how furry a character's appearance is, there are multiple stages of how furry one's interests are.

Some people might claim that liking furry artwork will make you furry (I'm sometimes guilty of this), but I think it's a perfectly natural appreciation: Humans are into the exotic, and are into befriending animals. We find little salamanders, frogs, fish, etc cute, despite having such foreign designs from our own selves. Taking it a step further, an "alien" who boasts animal-like features that we happened to find cute, while still featuring the human-like features that we find attractive (Two legs with appropriate musculature/shape, two arms with proper dexterous hands, etc), and it's only natural to find the works attractive. I truly believe that if aliens showed up who happened to have these anthro traits, non-furries would love them.

I would like to point out that e621 is NOT a furry porn website, It's an Art Archive. Sure, it can surely be used for such purposes. But e621 main purpose is to serve as a place to archive furry or semi furry related content.

There's the purpose a tool was designed for and the purpose it is put to. 'is' in this case just obscures which of these was meant. So yes, all of the following are true:
e621 is a furry porn site, e621 is a furry art archive, e621 is not a furry porn site, and e621 is not a furry art archive.

To be actually precise: e621 is in practice on the basis of what we hear from people, a furry porn site. e621 is in design and aspiration, a furry art archive.

"X is|isn't Y" arguments tend to be nonsensical because each side typically means a different thing by 'is' (and will not admit it, or isn't even aware of it).
