Topic: Something I just learnt about canine_penises

Posted under Off Topic

It turns out the part with the shaft and knot is actually the glans of the penis, analogous to the head on our own dicks. And what is often called the knot_root is actually the penis itself.

And now I can’t unsee it. To think that all that is just the tip of the actual penis. The entire thing must be hella sensitive.

Found all of this out in a bad fit of OCD wherein I had crippling fear I was somehow becoming a zoophile when I don’t want to be X.X

I am sorry, i have to break it to you. You have become something far more shocking. A zooologist

"A notable difference from the human penis is that the visible part during an erection consists entirely of the glans." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine_reproduction
They also have literal bone in the penis to keep it erect, humans are actually outlier in this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baculum

Canids and humans also have erectile tissue, so where humans get erect with help of it, that's how canids knot.
Basically where humans basically need to get erect so that they can start intercourse and maintain it, with canids they basically go in completely flaccid or half-flaccid and full erection is then used to keep the penis in place during ejaculation.

This is also good mental image to have in sense that humans still do circumcision for whatever reason. If dog ran around with their dick outside the body constantly, that would cause some major issues for them, so why do humans do that to themselves again?

I always figured this was the case with canines, given how analogous the sheeth is to foreskin and the fact that the whole thing is a different color from the rest of the dog's skin. (though the implication that the knot root is therefore the "shaft" isn't something that ever occurred to me) Honestly it's always made me kinda jealous of canines, like "damn, why does their whole length get to be eroginous while we only get the tip?"

Granted, it would probably be really overstimulating to do many of the things that are depicted being done with them. Using hands on it while the whole thing feels like the tip would be way too much. My understanding is the more reasonable way to do it is to hold from behind the knot, similarly to how humans hold the shaft and not the tip.

It's a dumb practice, but human peen is built different and can typically handle the glans being exposed like that. Not like it's gonna dry out and blow away like dust in the wind.

This conversation feels like people missing that canine penis aren't all "bare" because most of it is glans, but because it's pretty damn unusual for a species' penis shaft to be skin-covered all the way up. Human dicks are the weird ones, there, and canine glans length is a separate matter.

Sorry I had forgotten about this topic. So how does this translate to furry art and anthros? Are sheathed humanoid dicks all glans now? Are concepts like knotted_humanoid_penis redundant?

No and no. humanoid dicks usually mean that it is similar to human peen, and human penis isn't all glans. Humanoid penises are not normally knotted, that's canine penises, so it's not a redundant tag.

Then I guess that implies that anthro dicks are not all glans, and if they’re supposed to be a blend of animal and human features, the structure is more similar to horsecocks in that there is no baculum and the shaft itself is sheathed along with the tip, the latter being considered the glans while the rest, including any medial rings and knots, are part of the shaft but have their own sets of nerve endings for stimulation. Unlike real animals and similar to humans, the glans is relatively dry with no mucus membranes and the sheath is essentially a glorified foreskin.

How did I end up massively overthinking this lol. Well that quells my anxiety now. :p

…unless you’re talking about furry art or a legitimate veterinary practice, this is extremely inadvisable. Don’t do it.
