Topic: Have you shared your fondness for nsfw furry art with a psychiatrist?

The title is self-explained. I'm just curious to learn from the story of the other folks that did it like me and if they had a different output.

In my case, long story short, I've been to the psychiatrist mainly because I was suffering from a lot of anxiety.
During the appointment, since sexuality is related to anxiety, I told about the nsfw furry art.
Then, he said that I should stop to consume it, mainly the cub ones, and he gave me antidepressants and medicine to reduce my libido (escitalopram, gabapentin, and another that I forgot its name).
After a couple of months, I moved to a calmer place. It considerably reduced my anxiety, and I stopped the medication. And as you can see, I'm back here.

I don't need a psychiatrist, I just tell myself "It is what it is."

Besides, the first rule of the furry club is that we don't talk about the furry club, you must never reveal your power level to others.

If the consumption of NSFW furry art had significantly disrupted your daily life (or increased anxiety before), you should probably ease off or stop the consumption of it.

A psychiatrist does not really go deeply into the underlying mental reasons of your troubles and can only provide you with the medication to deal with the physiological effects.
You would be better off sharing your fondness of furry art to a psychologist instead, since they can help you understand your anxiety more and deal with the underlying issues directly (though they cannot give you any medication).

Just so everyone knows; this is not a medical site, nobody here can give anybody medical advice.

Threads like these always end up locked eventually. you should listen to your psychiatrist and avoid coming here often if it impacts your mental wellbeing.

As for I, I never been to a psychiatrist, I've visited therapists and generalists for my mental issues though, but they never had anything to do with me being in the furry community.

I'm not asking for any medical advice.

And well... I would like to hope that nobody here is expecting medical advice on a furry gallery website.

I've been to a psychologist in the past, but it was only two appointments since I didn't have a good fit with her.

But yeah, I should look for some psychologist, I guess, but I'm too lazy for that.

No. Psychiatrists are just gatekeepers for whatever meds you want. You say the right words to get them to give you what you need and nothing more. They're not your friend.

That said, I did tell a therapist once of coping with depression by looking up images of furries and anime girls self-harming. Seems healthier than the alternatives.

Yeah, I've told my therapist with my sexual interests to anthropomorphic bipedal animals, she say I need to go outside and have a walk, a jog, I've tried following her advice it works as usual, because I spent my time being in this home I'm staying, going outside and taking a walk, depends what you prefer on spending your time going outside, it works like a charm. I stop following her advice since I'm a fat lazy piece of shit who always unreliable, I'm still reminding myself do minor tasks independently rather then here and look at furry porn while relying on your family members to fetch you something you wanted, you should at give your worth a shot to trust these professional as they'll try to least give the most of help you need as possible.

P.S: Don't trust last user who seems to be a bit shady and cynical. No offense, but Its their entitled opinion and I can't anything about it.

I consider myself more of a pragmatist. Think about the reason you go to see a psychiatrist in the first place.

That said, touching grass is good advice. Try to have some form of outdoor engagement. Even if it's just going to the library to pick up manga and light novels.

1. TRUST NO ONE
2. Touch grass.
3. Don't be fat.
4. Quick, put me in the closet. And now, I'm in this darkest closet, tryin' to figure out, Just how I'm gonna get my crazy ass up out this house.
5. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE

Quick reminder that you should exercise caution and know the laws of your country or state before discussing more intimate topics with any mental health professional. In some places, talking about cub/lolisho with your therapist may result in uniformed men knocking your door down and taking you away.

Good advice. In general, it's good to know what lines have to be crossed before a mental health professional will feel the need to get cops to harass you. Once you know the criteria, you can dodge and avoid it pretty easily. Even if it comes to cops, you can usually get them to go away if you answer them correctly.
