Topic: Using AI voice models in animations

Posted under General

There’s been a recent controversy involving voice actors (like Erica Linebeck) objecting to the use of their voices in AI models for things like covers, reading copypastas, NSFW mods, etc.

There’s already been discussions and arguments about using AI for art, but I haven’t seen anybody bring this aspect up on the forums or the uploading guidelines. I can sense that somebody is going to try to use a voice model in a NSFW animation eventually, so I’m wondering if that’s something that should be clarified or if it’s just banned from the site like most AI art.

The relevant item in the uploading guidelines prohibits "AI Generated content", except for the exceptions listed under that item -- and voice acting is not noted as an exception.

Pending any information to the contrary from a member of staff, I would proceed as though AI-generated audio is prohibited the same as any other AI-generated content.

That pertains to visuals and it’s been stated that voice/audio is generally an irrelevant factor, which is why I’m asking.
