Topic: Regarding "incorrect" deletion of post #396130 in favor of post #37221

Posted under General

Hey

About a year ago I uploaded a non corrupt version of post #37221 (see post #396130), because I hate, yes that is pure HATE, corrupted files. However it got deleted and I was bummed out and thought "screw it!”.

Now I stumbled onto the post again, and the fire started burning again, however, because of checksum or whatnot, I can't upload the non truncated version.

So what can be done about it?

It's likely that they only noticed it was a repost and removed it without noticing there was a difference. It's one of the reasons they recommend you flag the older post for deletion and parent it to the newer post before anyone else has the chance to flag the newer post by accident.

As for your post, they keep backup copies of deleted posts, so there isn't any need to upload it again. Any of the admins should be able to restore your post for you and delete the corrupted post if you just let them know.

Fixed.

Here is some super secret advice: flag the corrupt version for deletion and the better version has a much higher chance to stick around.

Thanks guys, now I can rest peacefully, knowing we got another corrupt file off the internet :D. But yeah, the corruption wasn't that visible since it was at the bottom and the background simply "shone" through, that in combination with I most likely not knowing how to parent/flag properly back then was likely the cause of the misunderstanding.

P.S. Didn't know flagging/parenting trick was a secret, I'll make sure not to tell anyone else ;)
