Topic: Is the 3D mode Run and gun game dead and clean?

Posted under Off Topic

The title may not be accurate, but the complete description is: with platform jumping and terrain difference elements, the shooting angle is relatively limited, and the shooting angle depends on the arrow keys instead of the mouse to change the shooting angle. For example, Shock Troopers, the two-dimensional type of Cut 'em ups can at least see several independent games appear in normal times, but the three-dimensional type of Cut' em ups seems to have disappeared, even if there is one, it is not well-known, Is this my illusion or is it really like this?

Tell more examples of 3D run n guns, you mean something like Panorama Cotton, Space Harrier or you mean "Real 3D"?

For example, shooting games such as Contra: Legacy of War, Metal Slug 3D, and Shock Troopers

I think it wasn't worth trying to make a "budget TPS" (this is what it is in the end) than just going with a true TPS with all the bells and whistles, or just doing a normal 3D platformer (lucky tales, mario odyssey, hat in time...).

Using Metal Slug 3D and any Contra from the PS1 era is a good argument for why this type of genre has no new games anymore lol, well at least you can have Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart...

The genre isn't dead, it's just being improved upon. Aiming a weapon in third-person using only arrow keys or a d-pad just doesn't give you the same freedom of movement that a joystick or mouse has. However if you truly are a fan of that control scheme there are games like Xeno Crisis and Hyper Princess Pitch that still use the same Shock Troopers-esque control scheme.

However, this type of game seems to have a tendency to remove jumping terrain differences. Are there any works that use elements such as the Shock Troopers operation scheme to freely jump terrain differences?

Doomsday Hunters is a good one in that case
