Topic: E621 on the Nintendo DS

Posted under General

Well, to say the least, browsing e621 on my DS has been a challenge. I am currently using my 3DS to type this. Here are some issues I've encountered:
-I have to use the home page of e621 to search for specific tags as there is no "SEARCH" button for the search bar on the page where you view the image thumbnails. I am unable to hit an "ENTER" key to initialize the search and am forced to go back to the first page to search again, which is time consuming, though not impossible to deal with.
-Due to some odd issue with the 3DS, larger images cannot be loaded and I am left staring at unfulfilling thumbnails of the desired image. This is not so common, but is still a major inconvenience.

To sum it up, a more mobile-friendly e621 set-up option (perhaps one that can be enabled in account settings) would make it a much more relaxing experience. As many say, "I don't much like working for my porn." Whether wise words or laziness, it has been said.
I'd greatly appreciate this sort of addition to the website and firmly believe it would increase the amount of viewers and users of the website!
Thanks for reading and I hope my thoughts are at least considered.

DS or 3DS? While the original DS has a web browser (not built in, mind you), actually attempting to use it is an exercise in futility.

3DS, works surprisingly well for such an horrible browser and only something around 12MB Memory.
(The 3DS has more memory but the browser only uses a small percentage of it)

With that said, except for the search button on /post/index is everything an issue with the castrated, outdated and limited 3DS Browser.

And just for the record, everything above ~3000x~3000 Pixels won't be displayed as do many types of *.png.
Again, that's a problem with the browser itself, not e621.net.

I believe the standing offer is "Buy Aurali the platform you want supported, and it might actually be supported one day."

Or start using a real computer/browser to browse the site, and not a hand-held videogame device. ?:I

Man, this brings back memories of browsing the internet with my PSP in 2004. It didn't even have javascript support. It had three tabs, but good luck getting a page on even two of them with the extreme memory limitations. Also I was using wifi from the neighbors a few houses down which made things slower than dialup.

I just pulled the old thing out now. It won't load anything except the main page and the comments page. Can't even get to this thread by typing the URL.

The point is, anyone using an actual computer best be thankful for the generally hassle free experience. Some people aren't in a position to have nice things like we do.

I'm still waiting on that ipad people keep whining about :p

besides. system works natively on windows phone 7.5, android 2.2 3.2 and 4.0.4, IE9/IE10, Opera, Firefox, Chrome (Chromebook), Mac AND windows Safari (there are differences people), konqueror, PS3, PSP, and opera mobile.

I already cover a lot of bases. (Things I already own and or things I can download free) If you guys want me to cover more someone better get me these tools. I don't own a 3DS (just a lite, no browser there though :p) and I don't own an ipad. (I am never giving a cent to apple.. EVER)

but yeah. If you guys want us to support more.. well.. first off we are only industry standard html5 compatible.. if your browser isn't up to that then I can't gaurantee anything unless I get it.

There is a mobile version, of sorts - http://e62.1x.net/ - it won't help with everything, but it does have a 'search' button.

It's also unofficial and unsupported by E621, so use at your own risk.

A really shitty search option. It ignores every search term past the first one.

I run this site as-is on a DSi and everything seems to work okay. The mobile version is a heck of a lot better though.. At least I'm not having to quit and reload the browser every 4 pages or so.

Thus why I was posting that it works decently enough on this.

exactly why I use my 3DS during the day for things that need better loading, and use my DSi to go here so I can fap and get some sleep. The DSi enter button works and it loads images. The 3DS is faster with loading and uploading... Souse a DSi for this site.

Before I got my iPhone I used my DSi to browse, and apparently Opera's a REALLY shitty browser - if a certain page requires more memory above a certain threshold (the cutoff point I never was able to figure out) it simply wouldn't load the page at all, and I'd be booted back to the startup screen without even any opportunity to simply hit the back button and preserve my history.

AT ANY RATE, pertaining to e621, not only did it refuse to search beyond the first term for me, but it would refuse to load thumbnails beyond the first twenty or so, so I wasn't even able to see anything I wanted to click on. This made browsing for general tags INCREDIBLY difficult and frustrating...
