I've been seeing the "Status Active" in every artist's "about" page. So what does it mean? It says "active" even on the about page of an artist that hasn't posted anything for literally a decade

Not all Artists upload their own work here. Some artists may have other people upload their work on here, and maybe those you mention are active, but not uploaded here.

If they haven't uploaded everywhere, then the status is just unupdated.

"Status Active" just means the page hasn't been deleted, a deleted artist page (example) will instead say "Status Deleted" because they're only soft deleted for some reason.

If we come across an artist whose e621 artist page says "Status Deleted",
BUT they have art in their FurAffinity gallery (or other gallery),
how we get their e621 artist page updated to "Status Active" (as far as i can tell e621 artist Status has only the two settings).

example: morticus artist page says "Status Deleted", but their FA has "Submissions: 286".
