Topic: Policy concerning afterwords/forewords in comics/series?

Posted under General

Hi everybody!

I saw a post a while ago which was flagged for deletion with the reason being it was mostly textual content (no idea if it actually was deleted). So I've been wondering, when uploading comics, do one want to include e.g. foreword which is pure text, or is that gonna go in the waste bin? I would like to say it should stay because of completeness of a work, but of course I do not decide what's right and wrong... Thoughts?

Since that isn't a valid FFD reason I'd assume it wasn't. For the sake of completeness I don't see why not to include it (as long as it didn't get excessive). I mean if it's a 20 page furry comic with a "not_furry" second page it'll probably be accepted anyways because it's part of a larger work that is furry (be sure to pool it so that everybody knows what it is). Note that this isn't the same as having 30 page comic with only 5 pages that are relevant (the rest being mostly human stuff or otherwise "not_furry") which would likely not be approved, regardless of completeness.

Another option I've done in the past is on post #555703 where I used the description field to point people to a known reliable website that hosted the last 2 pages (the ones that would be of little interest to most people here).

Do you have anything in specific you want to upload right now? Because I'd be happy to take a look at it for you and give my best judgement on whether it would be accepted (though I can't guarantee I'll be right).

Yeah it's that one page of 20 kind of thing I was thinking about. Your example pages were more or less the stuff I was thinking about. Those totally blank "manga" pages on the other hand, I think we all can live without.

I just know I have a few missing pages of some comics (no idea which however, just things I notice while browsing), which I've never uploaded cause they felt like people would nag about them. Then I found this: zero pictured (which has a quite a few of those) and thought of looking up those comics again.

Otherwise I guess adding links would be an acceptable compromise.

Generally if it's part of a comic, we try not to split up a comic and either approve it all or delete it all. So if the comic is furry enough, meets quality standards, isn't paid content less than 2 years, etc then we will approve the full thing (even if it includes a few pages which wouldn't have been furry enough if they'd been a separate work on their own). Generally. However, forwards and afterwards can sometimes be a grey area if they're extremely extensive about off-topic things, extremely brief so they don't really say anything or otherwise don't seem to add much value to the comic. Especially if it hasn't been pooled with the rest of the comic so it's not clear why it's been uploaded here and gets evaluated and deleted based on how it measures up as a single page.

The idea of simply linking to the forward/afterward in the description instead of uploading it, is fine. It would also avoid having to worry if those only-sorta-relevant pages would be approved or not. Some forwards/afterwards/contents/etc add more value than others.

But if you think they add important value as a part of the comic, then you can upload them with the rest of the comic. As long as it's pooled with the rest of the comic, it should probably be approved along with. If there's a case where the comic was approved but the forward/afterward was deleted, you can send me a Dmail about it and I can look into it.

When I post a comic, and there is an image that does not qualify for E6; Yet is still part of the comic, I just link it in the description of the previous page and in the pool window of the comic.

If it's not a blank white image, it should be allowed!
