Topic: Are these species tags valid?

Posted under General

A while ago I went through the trials_in_tainted_space posts for character tagging (even after three times I still found some that I had missed). I also wanted to tag their species, but there are a few ones that make me wonder if they are even valid. And as a big fan of TiTS I’m anything but objective on that matter, so I need to hear the opinions from other people.

Here are a few examples:
Gabilani (aka the main reason I made this post) are space goblins. Nothing more. The only distinctive features I can think of are their love for cybernetics, which leads them to use all kinds of implants and a wider range of skin colors compared to the usual green we associate with goblins.
In one of the forums someone argued that because of the different interpretations of goblins from different artists/authors it would make sense to make different tags for them, but I don’t remember where that was stated, which user said it or if that argument went somewhere.

Ausar are a different topic. I’m quite sure they deserve their own species tag, but here I wonder how far we take the Tag-What-You-See. In lore, Ausar are dog humanoids (emphasis on HUMANOID) with thigh high fur, wolf ears, tails, fur-covered arms and in the case of a certain subspecies neck tuft. But then there are also characters like “Paige”:https://e621.net/posts?tags=paige_%28tits%29+ , who took gene-mods to go full anthro. Should these cases also be tagged ausar?
Just to mention them there are two notable variations: First, huskars. They are just ausars, who have adapted towards the cold and possess more fur.
Second, hellhounds. They have nothing to do with the demonic canines like Loona, but are the result of an Ausar taking the drug known as ‘The Treatment’. They gain muscles, size and a pair of horns while not suffering the intelligence loss the Treatment usually causes. I’m just mentioning the hellhounds, because I know that there was at least one post where an ausar was mistagged as a hellhound.

Thraggen . Space orcs. Usually serve as bosses/minibosses.

Hyrax (or Hyraxi). Hyena humanoids with fluffy arms, legs and ears. One of the newest species in the world of TiTS. While I’m sure they deserve their own tag… what would it be? Hyrax are already a tag for a real species (rarely used but still). Either hyraxi or hyrax_(tits) would be options.

Rodenians . Ahem… Rodenians are a mouse-like species with a highly unusual reproduction method. Females have no vaginas, but instead ‘earginas’ (it’s exactly what you think it is), wombs located in their breasts and their children are birthed as eggs from their nipples.

There are many more species, but these examples should give you an idea of what I mean.

fictional species, especially non-public domain ones, are effectively TWYK. in cases where the character is roughly analogous to or clearly based off a real life animal or a public domain fictional species (elves/goblins/whatever) then that species should be tagged as well.

Example: Pegasus should be tagged alongside Fluffy Pony if they have wings but no horn. We also don't have an Anthro Canine tag but separate ones for much of the same reason.
