Try Star Wars in 2033. Not every series is put together well like Back to the Future. I remember it actually being considered unusual how they did all 3 as a kid. I don't think I've EVER seen anything longer than a trilogy not just totally change everything.

To my recollection that was an issue of flipflopping on writing and scenes being cut, you'll see it happen again if you pull up Freddy vs Jason. Don't forget Jason X, by the way, if for the simulation scene if nothing else.
