I used to go to Herpy.net to see dragons. It's technically a reptilian image board; all dino, lizard and dragon, no furries!

It does feature some(most) of the familiar dragon art here but there're some that you never seen b4. But I have to say, things are darn outdated.

NOW that I've gone back, I noticed that Bad Dragon also has an ad there... so yeah, some what like e6.

It's because advertisements. There's a reason that TPB only had malware-ridden porn ads, it's because of the activity that was being conducted on the site drives away legitimate advertisers. Since BD owns e6 they can do whatever they want (within the law). FA can't do that because they still have to appeal to advertisers.

Granted though, they rake in an absurd amount of donations for "server repair" (like buying a bunch of servers that are still lying unused), "maintenance", and general fagoneer corruption...
