What are the restrictions if you get banned?

From what I've heard, you can still view the site but you can't do anything like comment in posts/threads, can't favorite stuff, etc.

I was wondering this too recently. Can banned people view their private messages?

Yes they can, but they can only write admins and maybe mods.

Rule of thumb, you can peruse the site normally but you can't use any of the site functions that would allow you to participate in any way, shape or form.

You also get a really ugly red bar at the top reminding you on every page that you're banned and for how long.
