Topic: Any feedback on my fanfics?

Posted under General

Months ago I was asking similar questions about my art, but now I'm pretty satisfied with how it's doing. I just realized I had the wrong audience for it back then.

Now the thing is, as someone who also occasionally writes fanfiction, I'm posting my writing on AO3, which is a completely different site from other social media platforms regarding the algorithm and the overall structure. You have the right to decide whether you want to click on the fic or not.

The Helluva Boss fandom is a pretty popular fandom on AO3 and my fics get a good amount of hits, but unfortunately a relative small amount of kudos, except for one fic.

Here's my AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Demongirl_Demoness/pseuds/Demongirl_Demoness

The problem is, noone's writing comments and therefore it's hard, if not actually impossible, to know where and what I should improve. Unlike art, where you can take a look at anatomy, proportions, lineart and coloring, fanfics only allow yourself to judge grammar, spelling and ways of expression, maybe some details and explanation of the situation.

A fanfic however can still be poorly written and I'm not talking about the topic and plot, which are completely subjective, but rather the execution of them.

Nothing I write includes extreme fetishes, rape, gore and character death. My fics may not be vanilla for sure and that's why I add the matching tags for the sexual practices, to let the viewer know whether it's their cup of tea or not.

Despite adding all these tags, I can't explain why my most recent fic got more than 100 hits without a single kudo left on it.

I believe it has something to do with the writing, which I couldn't figure out since I'm pretty satisfied with how my story turned out. That's a pretty dissapointing result, especially when you consider the time you put into thinking of ideas and how to properly execute them.

Since it's hard for me to judge myself, I would like to hear some feedback from you. That would really help me to imrove and face my mistakes. You can either read the fic I linked or check out my other ones.
