Just noticed deadline for submitting 2023 furry works for Ursa Awards' RAL (Recommended Anthropomorphics List).

Considering Fur Affinity has won every year since 2012 apart from 2017 (InkBunny) and 2018 (e621) it's a little bit of a "second place to Fur Affinity award" but I think more and more people are getting sick of what FA does lately that it shouldn't be too hard for it to sway in favor of another website. I think the bigger problem is that most e621 users that will read this forum don't really care for pointless popularity contests.

Last year (2022) e621 came somewhat-close second place with 1105 points to Fur Affinity's 1331, with third place having only 549. (full stats)

honestly these awards thigs are more popularity contests more than like "are these the best of the best?"

I didn't even know these were still going on. I feel like after IB and e6 proved they could beat FA their users just stopped caring.

maybe? if someone wants to campaign for e6 or another site other than FA. but like, where? there's only a couple dozen active users on the forum and even fewer on blips, so it'd have to be offsite. but also who and why? I'm not sure we really have anyone around who would have enough influence to sway the vote as well as have enough reason to do so.

And that's why I called it a pointless popularity contest. I personally just want to see anything but Fur Affinity win.

Really, I'd say practically any award is the same. Even the awards like the Oscars that have juries are probably just as biased to what's popular rather than the best, especially when they're just deciding between what has been nominated. The true "best movie of the year" may never even get nominated in the first place.
