Topic: How to approach tagging artists when more than one artist shares the same name?

Posted under General

I've come across this problem a few times (it's especially prevalent when working with both Japanese and English sites, e.g. pixiv versus Inkbunny) nad have always solved it with arbitrarily naming artist 1 as "[name]" and artist two as "[name]_artist." But I don't think this is a very satisfactory solution. Suggestions?

How about adding the japanese spelling between parentheses for the japanese ones?

Very carefully. :V

One way to do it is to use _(pixiv) and _(inkbunny), using the base tag as a dumping tag for both artists until they are properly tagged. It can depend somewhat on how many posts each artist has and how active they are. For example, if the most recent art from one of them was in 2010, our options are pretty open.

Another way is to check and see if one of the artists has an alternate name they can go by. So you would use something like name_(pixiv) and altname instead.

If all else fails and you have a specific problem, you can ask the forums for suggestions.

I think that only reasonable solution is duel with guns. Loser loses honor, life, and nickname.
