Topic: fluffy-community.com rule change PSA

Posted under General

PSA to the maybe 2 other people who care: https://fluffy-community.com has announced that they are going to ban anthro porn as well as any feral art that the mods think is fetish art or too horny. Like most sites that try to ban art they think is icky while still allowing art they personally like, they are struggling hard to define what "porn" means... So basically, a large amount of the site's content is in jeopardy, since most of it could be seen as fetish art. (Yes, this is absolutely insane considering the fandom's content. Apparently they claim to not be gore fetishists? I honestly thought that was like, the point...)

Anyway, they haven't started deletions yet, so I'll be trying to archive what I can over the next few days. If anyone else is interested in archiving art hosted there, now is the time.

Edit: It seems there is controversy among the staff of that site, I've heard a variety of contradictory things regarding what exactly is being banned and whether or not existing posts will be deleted. I guess stay tuned.

i may not be into the whole fluffy pony thing, but my heart goes out to all the legit fetishists who are honest with themselves and who they are for getting screwed over by dipshit staff who are in denial

Oh my gosh,

That.

Is.

Interesting!

I had no idea the FluffyPony biz had a community website!
Let alone there was this much discourse in it! There are so
many things I want to ask but If I only get one I have to ask

What is NSFW and SFW when it comes to Fluffy Pony Content?

Forgive my misconceptions, Isn't Fluffy Pony's base built on
Happy Tree Friends-style antics? (Gore and stuff) What would
SFW versions of that be? Is there porn in the traditional sense
there worth going after? Honestly, What even kicked off the big
turn-off of porn there? Why remove a section of that adult site, Dood?

Excellent question! No fucking idea lol.

There is, yes. One of my favorite artists and the reason I learned about this in the first place, federalchemical1728, draws a lot of porn and anthros and that's all archived here already. (he's uploaded a few commission pieces more recently that aren't on here yet, I'll add those soon, but they're feral and not sexual so not likely to be deleted. Some have genitals though so it is possible if the mods decide they don't like him)

There's a pretty significant amount of porn in the anthro and sexualizing-fluffies tags on there, although I wouldn't be surprised if the nonsexual anthro art will be mass removed as well.

Your guess is as good as mine. Probably "ew, furries"

are you posting something that'll make a janitor cry

Sweet, Thanks you so much for the research notes, Dood! ◠‿◠)

They may enforce playing it straight 100% without gore.
It would be the worst move, utterly defeating the Happy Tree Friends-style satire.
Becoming what they were satirizing but, I don't see the way they're shooting for
without this. Makes a peep wonder if no NSFW could fly in Fluffy Pony and for it to
still 'be' Fluffy Pony, Dood.

Whoa! This was not what I expected! Thought Fluffy Pony Biz would be a lot more Visiral
and closer to Mortal Kombat 9, Strangely Super Revealing outfits with fatalities and all
but this is surprisingly tame! Really gotta wonder why they're removing this particularly,
Saw more out there (But nonsexual) things on the homepage just clicking the link!
What "Do" they have in mind with the new rule, How are they going to enforce censoring
a cat when there are already 6 to 12 lions in the not-so-living room, Dood?

Could be a Tumblr, One bad egg spoiling the pot for us all...
but I can say, there's definitely a story behind this!
This is waaaaaaay too specific for a site like that, Dood!

Really hope not, because if so the peeps running
the site would be the BEST EXAMPLE of:

"People In Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones."

I've ever seen!

That level of close-mindedness on their half will put them
in weird scenarios where they have to justify blocking love
and allowing hate. Either everything's o.k or nothing is,
Having both will only have both sides angry at ya, You
gotta commit or drawback but leaving the door open in
the middle of a blizzard just makes ya a jerk, Dood

I absolutely agree lol the lack of self awareness is baffling

Update: One of the staff there said existing work is grandfathered and won't be deleted, but another said it will be within a few days and called me a slur. So, who knows. I've also heard very mixed things about what exactly is against the new rules (all anthro art? just anthro porn? all porn? except they want to make sure the sex they like is still allowed, so that doesn't count as porn - but then what does count as porn? The official rules document doesn't even mention nsfw art, it only says that anthro fluffies must still act like fluffies, but mods have made a variety of contradictory claims in the comments and the chat)

I'm not going to bother archiving anything because I'm not interested and only 1 in 100 images are even good enough to post here, but that's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a while. I refuse to believe that this isn't a fetish for a good portion of these people. I'm real curious to see what would be their ideal vision of what fluffy pony art is supposed to be.

Such professionalism…

the fluffy community was built on anarchy it thrived on anarchy, having restrictions like this on a community-based creative writing project like this is incomprehensibly dumb. the community's slogan was literally "It's horrible. That's what matters.", for gods sake. a community that was built at least in part by artists like Lamia, Mutagen, Fwuffee, Kibbles-n-Tits, and other artists and authors whose stuff got lost after the booru self-destructed.

I just hope any .txt stuff can get archived somewhere since we can't do that.

Maybe copy-pasting the text into a forum thread?

dimoretpinel said:

I don't think that's a good idea, we can bring anything that has a cover image over as story_in_description, assuming the art is of enough quality to not get deleted.

either way I think we should try to let as many umm... exiles? refugees? whatever-- that we'd likely welcome them here.

I dunno who this PSA is for, since like 4 people total like fluffy ponies around here.

Banning porn specifically is pretty funny, though.
The whole concept of fluffy ponies is centered around torture, gore, and scat. But showing sex is apparently a step too far.

It's for those 4 people, lol.

Not even sex in general, but only sex that's meant to be arousing? They want to keep some fluffy pony sex on the platform, but can't really define what exactly is against the rules beyond "I know porn when I see it." It's very strange.

Frankly, this just seems like a blank check on their part to flag anything they don't personally like.

I may dislike fluffy ponies (and pony stuff in general), but it's always just... sad to see any site turn corrupt and arbitrary.

100%.

It's really sad. I've already run into one really great artist who's leaving the community over it, and I'm sure there will be more. (I've asked that artist if their work is ok to archive here, waiting on a response)

If this website were to shutdown nothing of value would be lost.

Yeah, the rules post has a bunch of comments. General chat is useless to read very active periods, though. :(
From when I last read general chat, the main problem is actually they want to ban MLP-like stuff, photorealism (Not to be confused with the Lego scenes which are anything but, haha), etc. I actually agree that it absolutely should not be there. The anthro and fetish stuff though I barely read about if recent. I'll check some more, in a while. Sorry, I didn't even think to post about this here.

It 'seems' that stuff that breaks rules will go 'private', although the artist SHOULD have backups on a local and cloud drive!

And yeah, everything's registration-walled nowadays, haha. I guess Microsoft couldn't kill Google, but walled-gardens are getting a go.

I know that anything that involved abuse of non-fluffies (including humans) has not really been allowed at all. I guess that's fair considering the community.

TBF, I haven't read that part yet. And also, Za is a big troll.

Wow, yep, they really deleted most of the anthro art :/ So much for existing art being grandfathered in. Hopefully the artists I've contacted have it saved and will allow it to be archived here.

Already?! Was anything archived?

dimoretpinel said:

All of federalchemical1728's work was archived, but unfortunately the other artists either declined or haven't responded yet

Edit: Swiftbitches has responded and said they do have their anthro art saved and will send it to me!

I had to take a break for a couple of days. RIP@unified community, haha. Now it'll fracture like Napster. I have to wonder if that was intentional.

Well, now we know at least if certain people were trolling. Man, certain artists are going to be pissed!

Sorry I was gone at that critical time - now I feel like I'm falling behind on recent tag projects. What do we do from here? You should be aware by now that many images on the FC site are actually screenshots or bad resizes of older sources.

https://fluffy-community.com/chat/c/-/4/350684 Yeah, this comment right here.

I know right!? This was such a bizarre decision, the community is already SO small. There's no sense in fracturing it like this.

alphamule said:

I've got in contact with a few artists who are going to send me their removed pieces so I can upload them here (arisenleaf, guodzilla, and swiftbitches) but they haven't sent them yet. Reached out to a few more who said no (coronaryheatingprocedure was the only one I know for sure had removed art, others I asked just in case). I previously thought the anthro posts were just privated and the OPs could still see them, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case, so titles and descriptions are probably gone forever.

That alone seems kind of fucked (implementation-wise) if the artist can't see it, either. It just says private from here. Given that it's Discourse-based, it might just be that only big-A Admins can see it, and not the post owners (which is a weird bug or oversight/design decision). If it was intentional, it feels like something FA or AOL-like clones (i.e. Tumblr, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter) would do as moderation policy. Most sites from that culture don't consider it odd to do it like that. Maybe we can convince Owl to let artists get a ZIP of their data before wiping it entirely from the database instead of just hiding it behind an account flag. Yahoo did this for Groups and reduced a lot of the pain.

I'll... take a break for a bit, then process all this. If we're going to be creating a bunch of new posts with tags and all, might as well do it right, and use the best sources we have. Funny enough, I've seen artists lose the best-quality files. Hell, I've been in that situation for a few things. Although it was more of finding it among millions of files. Super hoarder here. XD

This reminds me I need to actually start looking for sites that are at risk of dying and make some Hydrus downloader and parsers for them.

same here mate, I really gotta figure out how to get downloaders for CoHost, Itaku, newgrounds and Baarag for it (or in the case of the last 2; downloaders that actually work)

Reverser will do Itaku, Newgrounds and Baarag. CoHost is still working on their API but I'll probably take a look at making a scraper once it's available.

i might work on that at some point.

Hydrus doesn't use APIs(most of the time)
it instead is given either a post page or a gallery page(e.g. artist, tag search, etc)
and you have some stuff that is used to find out what type of link it is

what it does is, eat the HTML of the page, then uses that to grab as much metadata as it can.
this also allows it to look though full results of a search, and get all the post page urls to be able to do the above thing.
a lot of the sites it supports have NO APIs to do this. Hench why just eating the raw HTML can be useful.
