Topic: Got a negative record for "adding invalid tags"

Posted under General

So this is a first, I'm not sure how severe or not is this, but a moderator ( Donovan_DMC ) created a "negative record" for my account.

I wondered what was the issue and apparently is because I added "invalid tags" to a post, being this one it seems: https://e621.net/posts/4523310
The post is a vore pic, featuring Bronwyn from Adventure Time, and it's clear that the prey it's Finn the Human. I added the tags (Finn the human, Human Prey, Male Prey, plus Uncle and Niece and Adopted, because Finn is Bronwyn's adoptive great-uncle) but apparently I can't because "If something is not visible, it cannot be tagged".

Is it really a strict rule that "if something is not visible, it cannot be tagged"? What about post-vore pics, we can't tag what/who the prey was? I uploaded a lot of vore pics featuring SentinelWinder's Melody, who's prey are human males and several of those pics are after she ate them or are post-vore (aka, her prey are not seen). Am I gonna get a negative record for tagging what she eats?

Also, wrong, Finn is visible in the pic... sort of. Pay close attention to the skull symbol coming from Bronwyn's tummy.

Anyway, all I want to know is:
1. How severe is a negative record? Is it a "do this again and you'll be permanently banned" type of warning?
2. How do I resolve this? Do I message Donovan_DMC (or another mod) and plead to them to lift the negative record and allow me to place the tags back?

Updated

first off, don't tag war, if you believe the tags are being removed in error more than once or twice than create a tagging abuse report on the post to request judgement/lock.

second off, no, if a character is not visible they cannot be tagged and furthermore none of their features can be tagged. it dosn't matter if the character is out of frame, behind a tree, or fully inside another character, if you cannot see it you cannot tag it.

however, in this case since there is the Finn-shaped skull and cross, I believe the character and, by extension, the lore tags are still valid. male, human, male_prey, and human_prey definitely are not, though.

also use your edit reasons, the box is there for a reason.

Most likely the mod didn't notice the skull, otherwise they would have left the lore tags. You kept adding the tags back without explaining, so from the outside it looks like you're fighting a mod based on outside knowledge or assumption.

I think the tags do apply though. If this post can be tagged finn_the_human, I don't see why the other one shouldn't.

Yeah, edit reasons and comments both reduce the chances of tagging wars. Like, if I see a tag that's been on a post for 8 years, and can't figure out how it applies, best to ask or look really really closely, and then preemptively answer future taggers' questions about it. "Oh, it's the painting on the wall." or "Oh, look behind the curtain on right side of panel 5 for barely hidden person." or "This was copypasta'd off the parent post by accident." as examples.

Can't have human tag pass presence test (TWYS) even if the character is Finn the Human, otherwise you'd have stuff like a furry version of Mario being 'human' just because the brothers are humans in Nintendo's various games' canons.
