Topic: Are completed YCH works allowed?

Posted under General

Can't find confirmation on this looking through the uploading guidelines or through uploads with any sort of ych tag.

I know the image with the placeholder blank "your character here" used for ych auctions is not allowed, but does that also extend to the finished versions that have a character drawn in? Or are those allowed?

A completed YCH is just treated as a normal piece of artwork, so it's usually acceptable to upload. I'd even go as far to say a significant portion of all the posts on e621 originated as a YCH.

Multi-slot or YCHes that use bases aren't acceptable unless they're created by the original artist, and in that case they're limited to a maximum of 10 versions (inclusive of the parent post)

uploading_guidelines says:

  • Coloring "bases" (template images) are not permitted if they haven't been performed by the original artist of the base.
    • We will only accept up to ten (10) versions of any given base.

To make sure I am understanding this right, so if the artist who did the ych also made the entire rest of the image, that would be ok then?

I don't undertstand what would count as a base that the ych artist did not make. Do you mean an artist modifying an image they did not make? I thought that would not be allowed because it's editing another's work.

It should be okay, yes.

A base that the artist did not make would be when they've done something like bought a base pack and colored the lineart - it's done with the permission of the artist, but we still don't desire archiving that content here.

Edits are allowed (as long as the original artist isn't CDNP for no edits). It's traces that aren't allowed.

Thank you, that clears things up. I had no idea packs like that even existed.

Oh, thanks for that clarification. I thought edits were not allowed at all.
