"Think of the children!" back at it again... Can't believe I hadn't heard about this till now, but Bill s-210 is apparently trying to force age/id verification on porn sites (and sites with, but not about, porn) to keep the kids pure! And the government may block sites that don't comply for the whole of Canada. I don't know if that last part is true, but that's what I heard on the radio show I heard this on.

Can't wait till they block google for all of Canada cuz of people turning off image safe search

On an unrelated note; Yooo! anyone got any vpn recommendations?

Proton vpn is the only vpn with a free tier that I know of that doesn't also obviously sell your data away or log your history. However, the free tier will be really slow and probably won't get you good load times. Their paid plans aren't horrible either.

Alternatively, you can get a gigabit vps (virtual private server) with 1TB of data transfer from digialocean for about $6/m and set up your own tunneling using openvpn (proton's $10/m) but that will require the ability to actually follow instructions to setup and a small amount of technical knowledge. Though proton's simple $10/m gives you access to way more servers and unlimited bandwidth/transfer and works with up to 10 devices, so your phone/pc/whatever else.

Thanks :) I'm not much of a tech guy, but guess I've gotta learn now, lol

Unfortunately neopuritanism is in vogue and nobody will do anything about it.
Canada's always been bad and will only get worse.

That's the thin edge of the wedge for surveillance; "Of course you don't want kids looking at porn", and then they'll make sure kids are safe from "misleading" Youtube videos and so on. They'll love having your ID if recent history is anything to go by. 🙄

Québec should have separated

Very few want Quebec to stay, considering the huge draw they are on the national economy for next to no upside; sovereignty association is one of the biggest, most absurd jokes I have ever heard.

It may be time for BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan to cede from Canada, and join Alaska to the continental US; we are literally paying massive and inequitable 'equalization payments' for token, ignored, nay, plain disregarded federal governmental representation, and for both Quebec and the Maritimes to not work, but still collect social assistance ... and get free residential heat pumps, but not as a please-vote-for-us-because-we-are-sagging-in-the-polls-bribe, honestly.

but sadly, BC is full of socialist nerf-heads,
governed by a quasi-communist provincial government, led by a dirtbag former lawyer

... not like I am bitter, or anything

I mean, I'd rather have their healthcare than the shit nickel-and-diming system we have down here.

Someone in the thread may be particularly surprised to learn who’s the one supplying their city with electricity 😳

If recent history is anything to go by, they’re gonna lose or mismanage people’s information like with the Pheonix fiasco. They can’t have your ID, they’re gonna lose it to the bureaucratic void before anyone can even check it 😭
