Topic: Can I upload backlog of art from a previously DNP artist?

Posted under General

Hi, I'm new to uploading here and noticed that a lot of work by one of my favorite artists, jinxit/dont_jinxit, is missing on e621. They removed their "Do Not Post" (DNP) status in December and announced it on Twitter. I wanted to confirm if it's okay to upload the missing backlog. There's a bit missing, including a comic and other pieces deserving to be on e621. I just want to ensure this is acceptable, and if so, could you provide me with some guidelines for doing so?

Thank you in advance.

If it's art that was already posted but deleted, it shouldn't be uploaded again. The artist can ask to have it undeleted, but it shouldn't be reposted. Otherwise, if it's not a repost, they're not (C)DNP, and it otherwise follows the uploading guidelines, it's fine to post it.

As long as it wasn't previously deleted (the similar images search can be used to try and determine that) it should be good to upload.

Also, of course, it should be none of their paysite content, as per usual e621 rules.

It's not a guideline or a rule, but I'd recommend uploading from oldest to newest when uploading a backlog - it's less confusing for users that way and keeps the newest stuff at the top of the search results.

The art is live on their Twitter and Furaffinity and I don't think it's been posted previously on e621 but I do not know. Is there a way to check if it was previously deleted?

edit: faucet just answered this as soon as I sent this lol

another good way to check on previously deleted posts is to search with jinxit status:any or jinxit status:deleted

the images won't be visible, of course, but it should otherwise behave like a normal post and as such have all the information that a post would have including intact source links

Actually, come across some artworks that were deleted due to the previous (CDNP) status with the tool. These were uploaded by someone other than the artist, leading to their removal. I understand the rule against re-uploading, but does this mean I can only upload if a specific piece of art hasn't been previously violated, while others are acceptable? Just seems a bit strange.

Never reupload deleted content, but you can appeal the deletion if it's been previously deleted.

As far as I'm aware, only the artist themselves can ask for these to be restored, since they were specifically removed in line with the artist's wishes at the time.

Of course, it's highly, highly likely that it's easier to just have the artist OK it, right? XD
