I don't think this tag needs to exist to begin with, it's just a combination of animated and collaboration.

Not really, MAPs are distinct in that each part is usually animated by one individual, and then they're all put together at the end, with little collaboration in the individual smaller parts. Most of collaboration animated wouldn't be a multi-animator_project.

The tag needs a wiki, but for an example of a MAP, see:

It's animators each individually working on part of a larger overall video.

posts tagged animated and collaboration very typically feature about 2 or few more people creating art, then giving it to editor to tween it, or frame-by-frame by each animator doing linework, coloring, and shading respectively.

multi-animator project are lengthy collaboration volunteered with connected parts of each individual animator. the inconsistency of art styles is very prominent with such content, think of like the ultimate showdown reanimated, jontron's firework, the0ddisout, and thousands of warrior cats map projects on youtube. i argue that its tag is genuine to existing here.

Yeah, you should probably avoid using that specific acronym altogether since it might get mistaken for something else.

i feel like it's better to drown out nastier and 'sanitized' secondary definition to address pedophiles and stick for a internet slang to describe animation volunteer that stayed for a decade (or ordinary as plural for map). better yet - stop addressing pedophiles as more 'softer' buzzword, i haven't heard this word to address them for 2 years already.

I'm not going to stop calling something what it's called because creeps use the acronym for something else. Multi-animator projects have been called MAPs for over 10 years at this point, since 2012.

I've pretty much only ever heard them referd to simply as "collab" or the more specific "collab animation".

If you're perfectly okay with explaining what you actually mean by the "MAP" acronym each and every time you use it, then that's fine. Expect to confuse countless numbers of people due to how far Minor Attracted Person has spread. We even use it in ban reasons

Context clues exist. Personally, I've never had someone who confused the two because the conversation's context usually makes it pretty clear. Not to say that no one will find it confusing, but in my experience I haven't encountered it.

This also is off-topic to the BUR entirely because now we're just getting into "should you call this thing what it's been called for a decade".

If you search "map animation" on YouTube you'll see it's a pretty common term.

I'm getting a few animated collabs, but most of the results are like animated depictions of wars/battles and border changes and the like, as well as a few instances of people talking about pedophiles in the various animation/animation-adjacent communities.

Can we not derail the thread to talk about the acronym MAP when it's really not relevant to the BUR?
