The wiki page for not_furry says birds count as furries in a wider sense.

Note that furry refers to the fandom, not to actual fur. For example, furless animals such as birds and reptiles still count as 'furry'. The term is used in a loose sense, and includes frequently debated things such as kemonomimi and My Little Pony.

anthro birds count as furries as far as the word "furry" goes as an umbrella term for any funny animal art

but in keeping to how lizard furries are called "scalies" i propose avian furries be called "plumbies"

sure plumbies may be nice but what happened to avian

I've always understood "furry" to be a synechdoche for anthropomorphism rather than a requirement that a character have fur.

Right. Scalie and featherie (or whatever you call birds) are just subtags subgroups of 'furry'.
