Topic: I can't believe e621 totally ripped off the hit anime steins;gate

Posted under Off Topic

Think about it. e621 uses a private message system called dmail (stylized as DMail). In the hit 2011 anime steins;gate the main characters are able to send text messages back in time using something called a D-mail. This puts an image in my head that DMail is actually a super high tech futuristic system that magically transports my private messages across cyber space and isn't a totally normal dm-ing feature. Now everytime i see someone say DMail I can hear the steins;gate music inside my head. I can't believe e621 copied steins;gate smh.

I made this post because I've had this thought for like 2 years and I've literally never seen someone make this comparison before and I thought it was kinda funny.

Yeah, but look at what year e621 was established.

Time travel.

I already knew the site was older than 2011 I was being mostly ironic.

They used D-mail to send the idea of calling it DMail back in time, duh

And how did e6 get the idea to name their private message system that way?

Easy: They were using the receivers before they used the instructions received to build the transmitters.

typical that a hit anime like steins;gate would rip off funny animal booru e621.net

honestly DMail feels more like dimension-hopping technology, whenever i read back my inbox it just looks like a totally different person wrote them

Simple reason, the site was created in the future and was sent back in time

Guys, DMail is named that way because of Danbooru, we're just a third party to whatever time travel shenanigans are happening right now.

Imagine a Back-to-the-Future style story where they are using some Danbooru-derived tool for all kinds of non-furry-Booru stuff and tagging images in general, and the main characters realized that they had to send someone back to 1994, 1999, and 2004 to make sure it becomes a thing.
