Now I'm sure I'll have 4 or 5 people tell me why this is a very very bad idea. Or 4-5 people tell me you can already do this. But in any event I'm just going to submit the idea regardless of the chance you might already be able to do it somehow.

There are a lot of artist on the site that constantly post a certain fetish or a certain character. And their art is recognizable as a favorite to you and or someone else. Granted that you can favorite a post what if you could favorite the artist?

To go into a bit more detail on the idea. Upon favoriting one or more artist you could go to a page where it would show all of your favorite artist's post. So say you favorite "derpah" And "antiander" You could go to a separate page from the traditional search and see all the posts from your favorite artists.

Does that at all sound like a good idea? Or is there something like this already in place? I won't be able to answer any questions on my idea until after later today so don't fight too much whal I'm gone?

I haven't seen any feature in e621 much like what what you're suggesting. Yeah, this would be a nice update. But based on your description, won't the page be acting like a feed only? Like an update page? What would the difference be from the traditional search?

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there's a feature close to that once you're a privileged member known as tag subscriptions. I'm sure an actual privileged member could explain it in detail, but I assume it's something like what you've described. You could subscribe to the tag linked to your artist's name and the list of tags you'be subscribed to appears on your profile. I hope that helps a bit.

Tag edits and uploads alone does not grant you Privileged, good behavior, being helpful to new and old users etc. helps as well.

Most of those are left over from the previous administrations. Now we have a forum that we suggest names for, look over their stats and make a group decision. People with little to no activity are not considered anymore as we hold privileged in much higher regard now. Lastly, if an administrator or moderator quits on good terms, they are downgraded to contributor/privileged and at one time we used to give artists contributor just for being artists which we don't do anymore if they rarely contribute

I'm working on a project to make e6 a bit more rewarding by watching the users more and throwing out more green bars to people that help out

Normally, an user requests the privilege. I remember that Husky did it because he wanted to tag more posts than the Member level limit allowed (10 per hour, if I'm not mistaken, I'm not that active in tagging) and the ability to use scripts; artists get recognized but they also have to request it, some users can report other users for doing good too (not like the old reign, where you would get punched in the face for doing so). Also, like it's stated in the official help, you have better chance of getting leveled-up by knowing the staff at the IRC, chatting with them at normal rate instead of forum replies (you may discover that some admins are actually funny)

Edit: Regarding the topic. This would be a nice idea, however, I'll probably end like dA or FA (with over 1000 new images from watched artists). The difference from traditional search as has been somewhat explained by others is that all of the artists you have Favorited would be in a list on this page. Anything they upload is then put onto the page.

To explain.

If you were to enter an artists name into the search bar you would get all the uploads that artist has made. (Provided he/she tagged them all with his/her name)

But say you liked 5 different artists A LOT but the problem is you can't put 5 names in the search bar because it would only pull up uploads with all 5 names on them. In this way the page (Tool?) I'm describing would allow you to favorite artists and then go to a page where every upload that all your favorite artists have made is now on display as if you searched them all at the same time.

I hate to have to reference another site but Tumblr's dashboard works this way. You "follow" Someone and then your dashboard displays any updates from that person. A new post comes out and now it's displayed on your dashboard.

Now since apparently privileged members get this function I assume it will not be considered for regular users and thus my argument is denied. -_- But we can still have an argument over privileged users so! Have at it!

However that being said wouldn't it be a bit of a pain in the ass if you really liked let's go with 27 artist. I can think of more then that for mlp pictures alone that I would love to be able to follow in the way I described. Writing it all out like that would be quite the pain.

Searches are actually limited to 6 tags (8 for Priv+) so the server won't burn out while trying to fetch your search results.

Yeah the only way to really search like a bunch of tags at once is with a tag subscription

Some of the artist don't post on sites like DA or the others you mentioned.

I no longer post on DA because for ever good piece of art on that site there are 500 people tracing it. So you are more likely to find better quality here and more likely not to have someone steal your work here.

Every time I browse the DA main page I usually find one post per page that's traced. I then track down the original like an asshole and post a link to it on that artists page because you can't take credit for someone else's work.

I will say that pre-privileged I only had a hundred or so tag edits (still don't know why I got it frankly, but w/e).
After getting it, I became more active and recently hit 10k edits(yay!).

To be fair, the increase in activity wasn't solely due to the priv status, but it certainly made it easier to help out with tagging.

At the time, a former admin was just handing out upgrades. I'm not sure if the admins came together and gave her the approval to do so or not, but it was at random. Kinda how I got mine but I asked

Speaking of green marks, I think good uploaders deserve those too. There are some users out there who've uploaded over thousand well-tagged images with a low deletion rate, but haven't got anything for it..

I was rather shocked (pleasantly so) when I got a green mark. Was all, "Whatdafuqbbq?" because of how rare they are.

Indeed, all you have to do is look at my user history to see that.
Over 10000 tag edits, nearly 2000 forums posts, 3 neutral warnings, no green anything.

My user history is all over the place

I'm admin and the only things I "did" in my records is ratting somebody out and spotting a typo on the contacts page.
