Topic: Do Deleted Posts Still Count Towards Favorites Total?

Posted under General

I was considering DMing a staff about this but couldn't make up my mind... anyway, the question's pretty simple: Is the favorites number in our profiles affected when a post is deleted?
I'm asking because I've been trying to backup all my favorites over the last few days, and I'm finished but there appears to be a ~200 file discrepancy between the number on my profile and how many files I've got downloaded. I've had this account for over 3 years with around 6.6k favorites so it seems pretty reasonable to have around 200 gotten deleted during that time.

yes indeed it does! for example i have my faves listed at 155, but when i filter out the deleted posts via fav:Dripen_Arn status:active it goes right down to 147 (i personally keep my deleted faves as sort of mementos for the art that used to be here and i'm not anywhere close to hitting the cap)

it even affects people who hit the 80k cap, to the point that when someone does run the the forums or admin dms about hitting the fave cap: the first bit of advice is to unfaviorite all the posts that have been deleted

edit: speaking of it might be a good idea myself to download all my faves and even upvotes. here today, gone tomorrow they say

Great, that's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!

Finally making an account made me lazy about backing them up, and now I paid the price in headaches all these years later when trying to grab so many at once. Still, the "RE621" tool made it easier than it would've been, until it borked out on me from my bad internet connection/computer with about 10 pages to go. Oh well... done now, I'm gonna stay on top of saving them as I go, like it did in "the old days".

I did the same when I made my account, thought it would be quite a convenient way to save artwork as faves that can be accessed anywhere, only to realise shortly after a few artists disappeared with thousands of works that saving them directly to your own hardrive is still the better option, so I just do both now. Bit of a ritual - upvote - fave - download

Easier to just back them up as you fave them just in case they get removed from the furry art archive site

Exactly. It's useful for phone access, for instance.

But yeah, I'm now quite glad I went against an old acquaintance's suggestion I finally make an account here back in 2015 or so. If I had, then I'd probably have 20,000+ faves by now and would have to throw in the towel trying to get them all if I only started trying to just now. In the many years before I made my account, I just saved anything I liked to a folder as I browsed e6. So now it'll just be back to that, with the added "anywhere access" convenience of the actual favorites here on the site.

I know I am late to the party but if you put "fav:(username) status:deleted" in your search, it will display all the deleted posts in your favorites. Then just change your option to "remove favorite" and click each deleted post. I do this to purge my favorites of deleted posts since I am nearing the cap.
