Masochism is a form of BDSM, and BDSM stays within the realm of possible, consensual and safe.
However, some posts are tagged masochism and contain gore or otherwise life-threatening scenarios. The characters being inflicted pain in these types of posts are enjoying it, so it makes sense to tag them as masochists.
This is seen a lot in candy gore and food gore, where there isn’t any real blood present and the character is still alive after their body has suffered normally lethal damage (ex: beheading, gutting), so it’s not really snuff.
Example images:
Appletun happily being cut in half, spilling his little apple pie contents all over the place.

Characters who are visibly aroused (erect, wet or achieving orgasm), smiling, blushing or expressing enjoyment even with their organs exposed (disemboweled).

I think we need a specific tag for these?
See:
General tags:
- Masochism -death ~candy_gore ~food_gore
- Masochism -death gore
- Masochism -death snuff
- Masochism -death torture
By type of injury:
- Masochism -death amputation
- Masochism -death breast_mutilation
- Masochism -death broken_bone
- Masochism -death decapitated
- Masochism -death disembowelment
- Masochism -death dissection
- Masochism -death hard_vore
- Masochism -death impaled
All types of injury at once:
- Masochism -death ~amputation ~breast_mutilation ~broken_bone ~decapitated ~disembowelment ~dissection ~hard_vore ~impaled
And this one, which I’m unsure counts with the rest because the character is dead:
- Masochism death
