Topic: Directly support e621 to disable ads for a user account?

Posted under General

Hi, I (obviously) use e621 a lot. I'm having a go at integrating it into my news reader (ala topic #20677), which I've configured to just embed the e621 page right inside the app. This is neat and actually works great (I have a few feeds for different searches I'd like to keep up with)... but since it's an in-app browser, I'm not able to use browser extensions, i.e. an ad-blocker. Yeah, sorry: I appreciate that e6's ads are tiny! But I still don't want them!

But I get a lot from this site and since I'm never going to be one of the people whose attention those ads are buying anyway, I'd like to be able to support the site more directly... and, you know, disable the ads, for my own account. No matter what platform or context I'm viewing the site from - ad-blocker or no.

Is this at all an option? I.e. some sort of monthly or annual subscription which chucks the ads out the window. I didn't see anything about it, but figured I'd ask. I understand if it's like, not part of the current policy that e6 has with its advertisers, too... but if literally anyone besides me wants this, I'd love if the idea could get passed on to the decision-making people LOL

for every $999+ purchase you make at bad-dragon.com; you get a complimentary month of "e6-premium+super-lubed&ribbed!"

I feel like if e6 had a some kind of premium I feel like you'd definitely want to give more than just ad-free, since that's kinda something you could aready do as a normal user. but also, I really don't know what else could be offered, I feel like most normal users wouldn't care about having access to any priv features and simultaneously, I'm not sure if selling priv features is really a good idea.

If we were to follow in FurAffinity's footsteps with their FA+ program, perhaps something like ad-free browsing, additional privileges (e.g., increased size limit, upload limit, etc.), connection priority (i.e., faster load times), and perhaps introducing new site features with it (e.g., tag subscriptions).
Oh, and let's not forget the addition of a shiny new icon next to their username like "๐Ÿ’ธ lods of emone" or something like that.

I highly doubt this would ever be a premium feature, if premium ever were to exist, since it is practically antithetical to the purpose of an archive.

Honestly, that's exactly why I only suggested removing ads within that "premium" tier. It just feels ridiculous to frame it as premium; the point is you're directly supporting e6, and so you get to universally bypass ads. That's it, that's all. It's the "bare minimum" because e6 isn't a service made for its "premium" supporters - it's made for everyone!

A (text-only lol) role like "Supporter" instead of "Member", I could see too, but that's about it. Developing features for supporters is a waste of resources because supporters aren't supporting to make e6 better for them, they're supporting to make it better (and sustainable!) for everyone.

That's the far extreme. I could imagine if a ton of people got on board, then making a feature that has to be distributed sparingly, like connection priority, to show appreciation - that could be reasonable, you know? But it'd never be the main point of supporting. I don't think "having literally any perks" needs to be a pre-requisite for a supporting tier.
