Topic: Alternate accounts

Posted under General

If I wanted to create an alternate account for posting art, am I allowed to do that? I see people's alts get banned, but I'm pretty sure it's because they were banned on their main account. Am I allowed to create an alt account if I am not banned, or is that against the rules?

You are allowed to create alternate accounts. However, you are not allowed to use this to bypass site limitations; ban evasion of course, but also things like using multiple accounts to post more posts than your upload limit would otherwise allow. Also no upvoting a post on two accounts, though favoriting is fine.

We absolutely slap people for doubling up on favoriting, doubling up anything is a great way to get both accounts banned

I think I must have misunderstood one of the things you had said previously then.

As others have said, totally fine to have multiple accounts. A perfect way to make sure you're not accidentally vote-cheating or circumventing upload limits is to make sure you pick one account for each purpose (voting, favoriting, uploading). So if you have two accounts maybe you only upload from one, and only fave/vote from the other.

Would adding to separate sets be allowed?
Mostly private ones at that.
Still haven't made the account yet.

As long as you don't go over the set limit. But even then the staff don't care

I would change the old unused email (that I possibly locked myself out of?) associated with this account, but I think my main email might be associated with an unused alt account I created long ago and forgot the credentials (including username) to, and I know having the same email on two accounts breaks everything. I know this account's password, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Trying to fix this is probably too high risk.
