Topic: Can I post a set of an artist's free comic?

Posted under General

I'm wanting to post a few comics from Peculiart (aka Mr. Peculiar), and he has a few full comics available on his store on his own website. The artist does not have a conditional dnp on e621, and the comics can be downloaded from itch.io for free, so it's not a patreon exclusive or something you have to pay for.

I just wanted to make sure before I tried posting it, because there are quite a bit of pages, and I'd rather not have a bunch of stuff removed and potentially get trouble from moderators for breaking a rule.

The best way to be sure is contacting them and asking for permission specifically to upload X content from Y source to Z site.

I guess I can create a twitter account or something in order to contact the artist, but the specific content I'm trying to post are 3 short comics, two of them being from 2018, and one of them being from 2020. Given that the newest one is literally four years old at this point, I'm assuming I'm good to go on posting?

From that perspective yes, but if the artist doesn't want his stuff here he DOES have final say.

Of course, absolutely. But considering there's about 1k posts tagged with this artist, I highly doubt he'd have an issue with a user on e621 posting a comic from 4-6 years ago that he currently sells for free.
